Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has hosted the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Yakubu Gowon University, formally University of Abuja Prof. Patricia Manko Lar who paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja.
Professor Lar said she was at the residence of the Senator to appreciate his support and seek further collaboration as she settles down to carry out her assignment.
She said beyond being the Senator representing her Constituency at the red chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Lalong has the goodwill, capacity and contacts to help her succeed in the onerous task given her by President Bola Tinubu.
She therefore expressed gratitude for his words of encouragement and assurances that he will use his good office to give her all the support needed to succeed.
While welcoming her, Senator Lalong said he received her appointment with excitement not only because she is from his Constituency, but because she was eminently qualified for the assignment of reorganising the University of Abuja which was recently named after another illustrious son of Plateau and father of Nigeria Gen. Yakubu Gowon.
He said as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Colleges as well as Member of the Committee on Tetfund and Tertiary Institutions, he will stop at nothing to ensure that she gets the needed support to succeed in this national assignment.
He encouraged her to be bold, fair, just and exhibit high sense of integrity in carrying out her assignment, noting that there may be challenges she needs to overcome in order to fulfil her mandate.
He prayed God to protect her and give her good health to do her best for the University, and Nigeria.
