Some Nigerian Army soldiers will be brutalized in court over the different levels of misconduct in carrying out their duties, especially in the northeast.
Recall that a general court-martial was inaugurated by the Nigerian Army on Thursday, November 7, to prosecute 70 people for defaulting in the northeastern war against terrorists.
Speaking on the General Court Martial, the acting General Commander of the 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdul Khalifa, confirmed that the court inaugurated pursuant to Section 131(2)(d) of the Armed Forces Act, CAP A20 LFN 2004 will carry out its duties in accordance with the principles of law and military regimentation.
Khalifa said the court would also be guided by the principles of justice, equality and equity as he urged the court members to remain reasonable in discharging the responsibility.
“Acts of cowardice, desertion, un-soldierly and other forms of indiscipline has no place in any army executing war,” he said.
