Simi Talks Music Preferences and Marriage

By  milcah   tanimu

Simi reveals that she primarily listens to Adekunle Gold’s music because he’s her husband.

Simi, known for her award-winning vocals and songwriting in Nigerian music, shared in a recent interview on the Zero Conditions Podcast that she doesn’t consume a lot of music.

“I don’t know anybody. The reason I know my husband’s songs is because I am married to him,” Simi explained candidly.

She added that her music consumption is generally low, even when it comes to her own work. “The reason I am listening to my album now is because it just came out. In another few weeks I won’t listen as much,” Simi mentioned, noting that J Cole is one of the few artists she consistently listens to.

Simi’s revelation has sparked interest among fans, considering musicians typically consume a wide range of music. Her appearance on the podcast coincided with the release of her fifth album ‘Lost But Found’, featuring collaborations with Afrobeats stars like Tiwa Savage and Falz, as well as legends like Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey.

The album, a product of self-discovery and growth following significant life changes, reflects Simi’s journey since embracing roles as a wife and mother.
