The Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, along with Professor Suleiman Bilbis, Professor Sule Sa’idu, Professor Muhammad Yahaya, Dr. Nuraddeen Altine, Dr. M.L.I. Shehu, and Dr. Bello Magaji, received an Award of Excellence from the Sokoto State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).
The award was presented to the Commissioner during the NMA’s annual general meeting held at its secretariat in the Kwasai area. The chairman of the association, Dr. Umar Mukhtar, stated that the award was in recognition of her significant contributions to efficient and effective healthcare delivery in the state, as well as her vision and dedication to the association.
Dr. Umar Mukhtar noted that since her appointment as Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe has left no stone unturned in revitalizing the health sector in Sokoto State. He highlighted her efforts in fostering unity and strengthening the working relationship among health personnel across the state.
Dr. Umar Mukhtar also praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu for appointing a capable and committed leader to oversee the state’s health sector.
In her remarks, the Commissioner expressed that the award was a blessing not only to her but to the entire staff of her ministry. She thanked the association for recognizing her contributions and commended their efforts in improving the health status of the people in the state.
She acknowledged the association’s initiatives, such as organizing free medical outreach programs in various villages, and expressed hope that these efforts would continue.
Asabe Balarabe also praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his support and encouragement, which have been instrumental in the success of the ministry’s activities.
The event was attended by directors from the Ministry of Health, SOCHEMA, PHDA, and other dignitaries.
