Sokoto Fire Service Saves 24 Lives, Controls 397 Fire Outbreak This Year

Addressing newsmen on the achievements recorded this year, the Acting Director-general, Sokoto Fire Service, Sani M. Budah said from jan to date they have brought to control over 390 outbreaks and saves no less than 24 lives.

“The estimated cost of properties consumed by fire stood out to be over N854m while those saved up stood to N1.6b.

“However, despite our efforts and the challenges here and there, good number of the fire fighting machines are grounded and need immediate attention considering the mass increase in population and elections of structures.

“Both the state and Federal government should come in to do the necessary as the the economy is daily going down and the masses are crying”.

He said presently they have only thirteen operational vehicles including the backup van.

He emphasized on the need for Sokoto state government to as a matter of urgency come in and do the necessary.
