Sokoto Government Partners with UNICEF on Children’s Nutrition

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Governor Ahmad Aliyu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to support children’s nutrition in Sokoto State.

The governor made this pledge during a courtesy visit by UNICEF’s Country Representative, Christien Muduate, at the Government House in Sokoto.

In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Bawa, it was noted that the state’s involvement in UNICEF’s nutrition fund is aimed at ensuring Sokoto’s children fully benefit from the program.

“I assure you that in a couple of weeks, we will make funds available for the nutrition initiative,” Governor Aliyu said.

The governor also commended UNICEF for its various intervention programs, including child protection and disease prevention. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing children’s issues in the state, particularly in healthcare and education.

Earlier, Christien Muduate praised Governor Aliyu’s efforts in education and healthcare, as well as his commitment to children’s nutrition. She highlighted the governor’s unwavering support, which she believes will ensure more children across the state benefit from the nutrition program.

She also called for a stronger partnership between UNICEF and the Sokoto government for the greater good of the state.

The meeting later went into a closed-door session.
