SOKOTO: Lender Banks Should Not Grant Loans To Sokoto Government, APC Warns

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

APC Party Chairman Isah Sadiq Achida made the declaration while addressing newsmen on the move by Governor Tambuwal To secure loans in order to complete his mission.

“With the latest request, we insisted that the political heads of the relevant Ministries or departments to brief the House on the desirability of the loans, it will provide basis for oversight function by the members as well as afford the opportunity of knowing the relevant accounting officers and political leaders to hold responsible should the loans be misappropriated or misapplied”, argued Achida.

He said the position of the House APC Members led to the stand off and the subsequent questionable approval by the House which lead to a press conference by the APC members in protest of the purported approval.

According to the APC members, a total of N89b loans have so far been approved by the House since its inauguration after the last elections in 2019 without commensurate performance to justify further securing additional loans.

However, Achida said arising from wider acceptance of candidates at all levels from Presidential, Gubernatorial, National and state Assemblies, he has every reason to be grateful to their Creator.

He said all the APC candidates are people of proven integrity who emerged through a rigorous, democratic and open process adding that they all have a track record of performance that is well known to the electorates unlike the candidates of their opponents who emerged through dubious, rancourous processes that continue and will continue to haunt them up to the election day.
