Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, state Chairman Of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Isah Abubakar Shuni in his remarks said the essence of gathering pen professionals is to assure them of the readiness of the incoming to beat all the past leaderships.
He called on the working journalists to always abide by the time for its importance both religiously and socially.
He also said they held meetings several times to discuss ways of coming with new brand of leadership to serve NAWOJ for another three years.
Those elected are Rakiya Muhammad of the Correspondent Chapel as the Chairperson while Aishatu Muhammad Madawaki of the Information chapel is to serve as Vice Chairperson and Zainab Saidu AbdulNasir from NTA Chapel to serve as the Secretary.
Others are Ummu Usman from also from Information Chapel would serve as Assistant Secretary, Hannatu Abubakar from the Paths Newspaper as Treasurer, Safiya Abdullahi of NTA as Financial Secretaryand Fatima Bello of Roma Television would serve as Auditor.
NAWOJ Zonal Secretary, Hajiya Rabi Muhammad Gwadabawa in her speech said as a family she is administering oaths of office of allegiance to all the newly elected members.
She charged and challenged them of historical and quality leadership ahead of all those that had led the Association in the past.
Rabi further commended the state council of NUJ that have served as the pillar for them right from time immemorial. She then appealed for the past existing cordial relationship to continue much more than how it was before.
She also called on the executives to endure all the hardships and challenges they may encounter in the three years they would lead this Association.
Rabi reminded the gathering of the importance of women education in national development and needs all supports from their male counterparts to succeed in the steering their affairs as it would be of great importance to Sokoto and Nigeria in general.
In her acceptance speech, the chairperson Hajiya Rakiya Muhammad promised to do all they can to exhibit high Sense of maturity to advance women’s rights adding that they would double efforts with the support of NUJ
While thanking all those that attended the brief ceremony at the Press Center along Zuru road, the new Secretary, Zainab Saidu AbdulNasir acknowledged contributions of all relevant information departments especially during and after inaugural meeting.
