Southern Kaduna Islamic Community Alleges Betrayal as Sponsored Student Converts to Christianity in UK

A storm of controversy has erupted after Ibrahim Omoru, a Nigerian student sponsored by the Southern Kaduna Islamic community to study in the United Kingdom, reportedly renounced Islam and embraced Christianity just months after his arrival.

Omoru, who now goes by the name Emmanuel, had traveled abroad under a binding sponsorship agreement, with his father signing as guarantor. The community alleges that millions of naira were invested in his education, only for him to “betray his faith, his family, and the trust of the Islamic community.”

“This is nothing short of blasphemy, betrayal, and outright fraud,” declared the leader of the Southern Kaduna Islamic community, who insists that Omoru must be brought back to Nigeria to “face the law.”

The dramatic turn of events has sparked outrage among community members, who are calling on Muslims both in Nigeria and abroad to track down the convert. The case is now being described by local observers as a major test of faith, trust, and communal accountability.
