Sultan Sa’ad Commended for Turbanning Abdul-Aziz Yari as Marafan Sokoto

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Alhaji Mujtaba Isah Helele of the Shehi Marafa Sokoto Youth Development Initiative made this announcement while addressing journalists at the press center.

He noted that Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar was turbaned as the Marafan Sokoto by Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar in recognition of his service to humanity.

“During his two-term tenure as the governor of Zamfara State, his impactful leadership left a legacy that is fondly remembered. His achievements in youth empowerment, peacebuilding, infrastructural development, justice, and philanthropy remain benchmarks for other leaders to emulate,” he said.

Similarly, Yari’s unparalleled philanthropic contributions have inspired many and extended beyond Zamfara State to communities across the country.

“The appointment as Marafan Sokoto was met with widespread celebration by people within and outside Nigeria, a testament to his significant contributions to societal progress,” Shehi stated.

On his contributions to the Sokoto Caliphate, Yari has been a steadfast supporter of the Sultanate Council and the legacy of Shehu Usman Dan Fodio.

During his tenure as the governor of Zamfara State and as Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, he championed initiatives that promoted peace, unity, and development across northern Nigeria, Shehi added.

The Sardaunan Matasan Sokoto, who is also the Garkuwan Matasan Arewa, expressed confidence in Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar’s ability to fulfill the responsibilities of his new role with dedication.
