I Have Never Campaigned For Any Politician – Oyedepo reacts to purported audio recording of him and Peter Obi

The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, on Sunday said he has never campaigned for any politician or spoken to any group on their behalf.

Oyedepo said this during a service at the church headquarters in the Ota area of Ogun State amid an unverified and unconfirmed viral audio of an alleged phone conversation between him and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Although he did not make any reference to any audio conversation, the cleric insisted that at no time has he ever spoken to any group on behalf of any politician.

He said that politicians from different political parties in the country came to him for prayers and advice before the general elections.

He said, “I have never campaigned for anybody or spoken on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven.

“There is no party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and advice.

“I advised them, some, they don’t take. Those who chose to take they see results; those who said no are still going about it.

“If you still come again, I will still tell you, nothing will change.”

Regulate Social Media to Save Our Youths, Oyedepo Tells FG

The Chancellor of Covenant University (CU), Dr. David Oyedepo at the weekend warned that the use of social media among the younger generation was a huge distraction, leading them to invest their time wrongly.

Oyedepo, Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, therefore challenged the federal government to regulate social media before it caused the country incalculable damages.
Oyedepo made this remark at the 15th convocation of the university held in Ota, Ogun State, on Friday, lamenting the negative effect of social media on the youths.

Oyedepo, in an address titled “A Wakeup Call to Generation on the Wrong Side of History,” said the social media had eroded the abilities of the nation’s emerging generation, leading to an increase in cyber crimes and other social vices.

The chancellor, also, noted that many youths “are not investing adequate time into resourceful ventures but rather in the wrong usage of social media.
“I recently defined planning as programming to secure the present and capture the future. This needs time for implementation and that is the trap of social media. It unconsciously robs people of their future by robbing them of their time.”

Oyedepo said it was time the nation dealt with the virus of social media before it caused it to have zero number of heroes across all sectors.

“The social media saga has eroded the destinies of most youths today. What is supposed to be a plus has suddenly become a major minus because everything of value is delivered through investment of time.
“Suddenly we are faced with a generation on the wrong side of history. The honour of this generation has been wiped off, chatting all day with no time left to think, plan, programme and engage productively in the pursuit of any task.”

Meanwhile, the keynote speaker, Dr. Valentine Obi said the changing role of higher education in this age of disruption, with a particular focus on the way; computation, data and innovation should be the centre of learning in the fourth industrialisation age.

Obi, also Founder and Group CEO, eTranzact Global, said online learning platforms and adaptive courses from big technological firms are competing with the traditional institutions across the world.

According to him, it is high time our higher institution focused on a lifelong learning programme in their school programme.

Obi, however, warned that the $4.6 trillion global educational market should be a wakeup call for African universities to close the gap between industry and business.

Citing examples of emerging exponential technological innovations in health, transportation, housing, Obi called on institutions to begin to focus on teaching applied learning that relates to people’s needs.

“Education is no longer just for your citizens. It is now a global franchise. The pandemic at least showed us that. People were able to study from unimaginable distances,” he added.

However, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Abiodun Adebayo, noted that Covenant University as a leading world-class university “is committed to global sustainability initiatives and would continue to undertake actions to promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Covenant University has continued to provide quality education and learning opportunities for lifelong learning through our Centre for Lifelong Learning and the African Leadership Development Centre, where short courses are offered in diverse fields of knowledge.”

According to him, a total number of 1,664 Bachelor and 254 Higher Degrees were conferred on persons who were found worthy in character and in learning.

Miss Paula-Peace Onyinyechi, a graduate of Biochemistry Department, College of Sciences, emerged the best graduating student, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98.

#EndSARS: ”The most gruesome season in the history of the nation is the last 5 years” Bishop David Oyedepo says as he joins #EndSARS protests

Bishop David Oyedepo who is the Senior Pastor of the Living Faith Ministries aka Winners Chapel International has endorsed the ongoing #EndSARS protests in the country.

While preaching in his church on Sunday morning October 18, the clergyman who has been very critical of the Buhari-led administration, said the Nigerian youth has the right to express their displeasure on the current state of affairs in the country. He said he has been silent on the issue so far because he warned Nigerians in 2015.

“Every man has a right, legitimately so, to express their displeasure and pains

I kept quiet for a while because in 2015 I warned this nation, vehemently, consistently, because I saw the dangers ahead and you can tell. The most gruesome season in the history of the nation is the last 5 years where lives have no value, wanton killings here and there.

Now they have faced the youth and because they don’t know who is next, they have the right to say ‘enough is enough’. Any system that has no value for human lives is irrelevant. If they were killed when they were youths, would they be where they are today?”.

It would be a sacrilege to shoot the protesters who are not looting, who are not ravaging.

I have been one of the few voices in the last five years telling these men and women that until you push a goat to the wall, you wouldn’t know it has teeth to bite.

I am here to say the youths have the right to say No. I wish they said it with me when I was shouting in 2015. I wish they did. They wouldn’t be in this trouble today.”

     Speaking further, the clergyman said

Check the history of Nigeria, there has been no time of massive loss of life than the last five years…including slaughtering people in church, icluding beheading a CAN chairman..with video. My God! Well, the bad news for every wicked soul behind these wanton killing is that your judgement has come.

The animal farm of George Orwell is far more civilised than what we are seeing now.

Daddy Freeze apologizes to Bishop David Oyedepo for referring to him as a "Bald-headed fowl" (video)

The video which Freeze released almost three years ago recently generated controversy after Port Harcourt-based pastor, David Ibiyeomie, stood on his pulpit and verbally assaulted Freeze.

Ibiyeomie while preaching, said he would not be alive and watch Freeze whom he described as a “Bastard”, attack Bishop Oyedepo whom he described as his father. He cursed the day Freeze was born.

Well, Freeze has now tendered an apology to Oyedepo for the disrespectful remark.

“My attention was been drawn to a video I released circa two years and seven months ago, while addressing some pertinent issues that arose back then.

“I apologize for the delivery of my message and for any insult to Bishop David Oyedepo.

“I did not intend to in any way dishonour, disrespect or disregard the person of the Bishop.

“My method of addressing doctrinal issues, has long since evolved to a more scriptural and less confrontational method,” he said.
