    Troops Exterminate Four ISWAP/Bokoharam At Forward Operating Base In Wulgo, Borno State

    Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in the north east in conjunction with the Cameroonian Defence Force, on October 18,2021 exterminated four terrorists of Islamic state of West Africa/ Bokoharam terrorists, ISWAP/BHTs at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Wulgo, Borno state.

    This was contained in a  statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General, Onyeama Nwachukwu, said the troops successfully foiled an attempted infiltration of the terrorists group into the camp, while on a patrol to dominate their area of responsibility.

    According to the DAPR the troops swiftly responded with overwhelming volume of fire and spontaneous reinforcement from the battalion headquarters, compelling the terrorists to retreat.

    According to him, “Troops immediately carried out a hot pursuit and exploitation after the encounter, along the terrorists’ route of withdrawal and neutralised three BHTs and recovered three AK 47 rifles, six magazines and 50 rounds of 7.62mm special.

    Equally, four ISWAP/BHTs terrorists met their waterloo  around the  151 Battalion location in which the terrorists were burnt beyond recognition, as their Gun truck mounted with Anti Aircraft Guns ran over Vehicle Improvised Explosive Device. 

    “Own troops are currently conducting further exploitation ahead of the location to clear any surviving terrorist”, the statement said.

    The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, elated with their performance, has commended the efforts of the troops and charged them to remain aggressive and focused, as they dominate their areas of operational responsibility, in order to ensure complete extermination of the terrorists and restore normalcy.

    Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) of the Nigerian Army in the Northeast, have arrested a high profile Boko Haram terrorists kingpin just as it has also raided the Boko Haram Improvised Explosive Devices, IED, materials centres in Damboa and Gashua Local Government Areas of Borno and Yobe States respectively.

    The Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, hinted that the operational feats were recorded following robust operations conducted by troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI.

    “After receiving a tip off on a wanted BH/ISWAP terrorist, one Yawi Modu who has been on the wanted list was nabbed along Damboa-Wajiroko road”.

    In the same vein, “troops have successfully bursted a Urea Fertilizer syndicate known for supplying terrorists with IED materials. The market is believed to be the notorious hub for IED materials for BHT/ISWAP”.

    The ISWAP criminals who are now facing the reality of obvious depletion are desperately acquiring IED materials to make explosive devices with which to unleash terror on innocent civilians in a bid to remain relevant and present a posture of potency.

    According to the DAPR several bags of Urea were recovered from the warehouses in the market and two notorious BHT distributors were also arrested.

    It could be recalled that Urea fertilizer has since been banned by Government because as it serves as a major component for manufacturing IED by terrorists. The suspects and materials recovered are currently undergoing preliminary investigation,” the statement said.

    The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya who has since commended the vigilance and resilience of troops also reassured them of his support in decisively tackling the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists menace across the area.

    Troops massacred Over 20 BokoHaram/ISWAP Terrorists

    Nigerian Army troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with the Air Task Force on Sunday 20 June 2021 inflicted heavy casualty on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Terrorist groups who were camping around Wartek in the general area of Lambom Forest.

    Acting on credible intelligence, the troops with close air support from the Nigerian Air Task Force component swiftly carried out a simultaneous land and air offensive, penetrating deep into Lambom forest in Borno state.

    “The troops overran the position of the terrorists with a heavy volume of fire from both land and air, killing over 20 insurgents,” army spokesman, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu stated in a communique early on Monday.

    The troops also captured heavy fire weapons and arms, including three Anti Aircraft Guns, three AK 47 Rifles, and two Gun Trucks, aside from two other Gun Trucks that were destroyed by the troops.

    General Nwachukwu disclosed that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya has congratulated the troops for the successful conduct of the operation.

    The COAS enjoined the troops to sustain the ongoing offensive under Operation HADIN KAI, until the insurgents are completely surmounted.

    He reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army under his leadership to bring terrorism and insurgency to an end in the North East.

    In a similar vein, troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) deployed at the Forward Operational Base (FOB) of 152 Battalion, Kumshe in Borno State have on Sunday, foiled an attempted attack by Boko Haram terrorists.

    The terrorists mounted on four gun trucks and several motorcycles attempted to infiltrate and attack the camp through the northern part of the troops’ deployment but were met with fierce fire by the highly alert troops, resulting in the instant killing of six terrorists.

    Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

    According to Nwachukwu, the troops, who remained dogged and sustained heavy gunfire on the terrorists during the encounter, routed and forced the terrorists to flee in total disarray, leading to the capture of six AK 47 Rifles, one handheld grenade, assorted drugs, and other first aid items.

    Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya was at the Theatre Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) on his maiden operational visit to the Theatre from 16-19 June to assess the operational and welfare state of the troops.

    During his visit to the hospitals, he assured troops of adequate medicare and support in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

    The COAS gave the assurances on Friday, 18 June 2021 when he visited the 7 Division Hospital and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) to commiserate with the sick and wounded in action troops recuperating at the medical facilities.

    The COAS also prayed for their speedy recovery.

    While at the hospital, the COAS took time to interact with the soldiers and assured them of proper medical care and welfare, adding that their medical care is of utmost importance to him.

    He averred that the nation is indeed proud of the soldiers’ selfless service and sacrifices towards restoring peace to the North East region.

    The newly remodeled Government Girls Secondary school Chibok, which was hitherto attacked by the dreaded Boko Haram sect on April 14, 2014, has been commissioned, several years after.

    President Muhammadu Buhari, who was in Chibok town, the headquarters of Chibok local council, on Monday, where he commissioned the remodeled government  secondary school, which will now accommodate both boys and girls.


    Represented by the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, commended  the BORNO state governor, Prof. Babagana UMARA Zulum, who  single-handedly  remodeled the school,, stressing that government is ever ready to provide qualitative education, especially the down trodden in the society.

    The Minister used the occasion to convey the goodwill message of President Muhammadu Buhari to the government and people of BORNO especially the Chibok community and pledged to improve on the quality of the girl child education.


    She noted that the present administration is determined to root out insurgency in the North-East region and the country as a whole to enable citizens return to normal life.

    “We sympathize with the Chibok community. We know what you are going through. But I want to assure you that we are working day and night to make sure that life returns to normal both in your community and all others affected by terrorism.

    “I want to appeal to Chibok leaders and the community to continue give their maximum support to the present administration under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who is ever willing to give girl child education the desire it needs”. The minister stated.

    In his remarks, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, thanked president Buhari for his support and co-operation to the state Government for releasing  the required funds which led to the completion of all the destroyed structures, and pledged his administration’s commitment to uplifting the education sector in the state.

    He prayed God Almighty to rescue the remaining schools Girls and all those still in the captivity of Boko Haram. 

    “The reconstructed Chibok school have a state of the art classrooms, library and laboratory, computer and ICT Center, a sports arena and a clinic. 

    “For security, it has a gate house and observation post to be manned by well-equipped security agents.


    “This administration promised to rebuild the Government Secondary School in Chibok which was destroyed by terrorists. Today, I am glad that we are all witnessing the official commissioning of the completed befitting projects.

    “We want our students to go back to school. We want them to get the education they need to live a decent life. We will support them and we will do everything we can to support their parents and the entire community.

    “We will also not forget the Chibok girls. We are working hard to ensure that they return home. As a father, I can feel the pain of the parents. What happened was tragic. But I want you to know that this administration cares. We will not abandon our children. We are with you”.

    He used the opportunity to commission numerous projects executed by the state government to mark his two years anniversary. 

    The projects executed by Zulum’s administration and lined up for commissioning included, the newly constructed Government Lodges in Chibok and Askira Uba LGA,  Mbabala Technical College also in Chibok, Primary Health Care Centres in Mbalala and Wamdeo in Askira Uba, 200 Housing Units in Chibok town, 20 double classrooms in Damboa, boreholes in Mboa community as well as distribution of palliatives among others.

    The Principal of the school, Hajiya Asabe Ali Kwongla, thanked Governor Zulum for the gesture, and solicited for the  re-equipping of the school laboratory, provision of school bus/Tricycle for emergency/ eventuality and additional teachers to meet the demands of the students.

    It was gathered that over 3,000 students in Chibok have been unable to return to school since the deadly attack by Boko Haram in the community, but with the re-opening of the new edifices, hundreds of students have been enrolled into various classes amidst tight security.

    TROOPS of the Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army, have been hosted to a feast in order to boost their morale, welfare and commitment to bring to an end the Bokoharam INSURGENCY, kidnapping, banditry and other crimes in the country.

    The Chief of Army Staff,COAS,Lt Gen.Ibrahim Attahiru, stressed that the feast was aimed at improving the welfare of troops as well as the provision of logistics and operational equipment to end terrorism and other crimes.


    He made the assurance at the Chief of Army Staff Sallah Luncheon with, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, held at the Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

    The COAS reiterated the gratitude of Mr. President and Commander – in- Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, to the troops and assured them of necessary support to end the lingering Boko Haram Insurgency and other criminal activities across the country.

    He personally took it upon himself to serve food and drinks to the sick and wounded officers and soldiers who are receiving various treatments at the 7 Division Hospital and Medical Services Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

     According to him, the Army headquarters was doing everything possible to improve on the welfare, logistics and operational equipments of the troops to finish the war .

    Lt.General Attahiru, while extending his appreciation to the officers and soldiers of the theater for their sacrifices and commitment to duty said ” we will continue to give you what you require to execute this war. I urge you to redouble your efforts to wipe out the remnant of the insurgents in the Northeast and the country at large.”

    In a welcome address, the Theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Farouq Yahaya, said the officers and soldiers of the theater felt proud and highly motivated to have the COAS in their midst for the 7th time and for having lunch with him which, according to him, was a clear indication that the COAS have them at heart”.

    The theater Commander further thanked the COAS for commissioning the two newly constructed projects at the Maimalari Cantonment which includes two blocks of HQ TC Officers and Soldiers Transit Accommodations.



    The officers transit Accommodation consist of 4 rooms for senior officers and 8 rooms for junior officers while the soldiers accommodation consist of 20 beds capacity dormitory with 2 side rooms, dining room and office.

    According to the Theater Commander, all the accommodations, will provide both the officers and soldiers rest and recreation places and furnished with all the necessary facilities including furniture, electricity, water supply system or borehole , TV, satellite dish, and also thanked the COAS for approving the construction of additional office accommodation at the theater command headquarters with a view of providing conducive working environment for the headquarters staff.

    In the vote of thanks, the Acting Chief RSM, Theater Command Headquarters, Warrant Officer,Sani Ugbaji, thanked the COAS for organizing the luncheon for the troops and assured him of the loyalty of the troops and commitment to serve their fatherland.

    Similarly, the COAS who re-assured the troops of his commitment, yesterday, while commissioning two blocks of officers and soldiers accommodations, said one of the cardinal objective of achieving his vision for the Nigerian Army is to improve troops’ welfare, especially those at the front line, adding that more accommodations for troops will be constructed across the Army barracks in the country.

    He also approved the provision of two 100 KVA generators to provide backup power for the newly commissioned accommodations and further pledged to support Operation HADIN KAI with better platforms that will expedite the defeat of terrorists across the North East and Nigeria at large.

    NAF fighter jet disappears during clash with BokoHaram

    A Nigerian Air Force Alpha-Jet has reportedly gone missing during a battle with Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

    Reports from reliable source stated that the fighter jet went missing on Wednesday evening.

    There has been tension in the state amidst fear that the fighting jet might have been captured by the insurgents in the North East.

    This was confirmed in a release by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.

    The release states that the details about the whereabouts of the jet were still sketchy.

    “A NAF Alpha-Jet has lost contact with radar in Borno State, while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops.

    “Details of the whereabouts of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss are still sketchy but will be relayed to the general public as soon as they become clear. Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts are ongoing”, he added.

    The Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) troops have killed 81 Boko Haram terrorists in the Sambisa Forest axis just as one soldier also paid the supreme price from landmine attack during a land and air offensive encounter.

    The feat was achieved with the support of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) as troops of sector1 made up of 21&26 brigades that cleared many villages occupied by the terrorists in the Sambisa axis affecting, Garin Bello, Kwoche, Lawanti, Alfa Bula Hassan and Alfa Cross among others.

    NAF aircraft engaged the fleeing terrorists with sorties from the air, just as

    sources confirmed that the fleeing terrorists  continued to wreak havoc and razing villages in their escape routes.

    According to the source, troops on ground encountered stiff resistance from the terrorists who laid Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the troops’ axis of advance.

     “The relentless troops destroyed the terrorists’ camps and recovered gun trucks and weapons as NAF aircraft continued to provide close air and interdiction support to the ground forces

    “Regrettably, a soldier paid the supreme sacrifice with 4 other soldiers wounded in an improvised explosive devices incident.”

    The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, has since sent a message of encouragement to the troops through, Major General Farouk Yahaya, who  praised the gallantry of the troops and urged them to sustain it.

    The Theatre commander  paid glowing tribute to the fallen hero and urged the troops to honour him by dealing with the terrorists ruthlessly without mercy.

    Meanwhile, a large number of fleeing Boko Haram terrorists,it was gathered, have invaded Zira and Gur villages in Biu South Local Government Area of Borno State.

    They stormed the communities at about 4:30pm on Sunday, on motorcycles and gun-trucks and set ablaze many houses, while residents scampered for safety but their exploits were cut short by NAF gun-ships that destroyed them from the air.

    The new Chief Army Staff, COAS, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Monday, has expressed optimism that the war against the Bokoharam insurgency will soon become to an end.

    The COAS stated this while on operational visit to commands and formations of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE in MAIDUGURI, pointed out that his  visit will afford him the opportunity to assess critical operational issues bedevilling the the theatre with a view to tackling them to ensure that bokoharam terrorist activities are brought to an end.

    He said the Nigerian Army will collaborative with security organizations from neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Niger and Chad republics, in order to finally annihilate insurgency in the country.

    According to him, “The entire process is that when you take over Command, you visit troops to meet them first hand and they tell you what their problems are, then you go back and articulate and ensure those problems are resolved”.

    “This is what I can tell Nigerians. It is not just the Northeast Theatre, we are equally ensuring gallantry of our operations in other parts of the country. We will ensure that people do their work so that insecurity will be a thing of the past. There are challenges but  are not insurmountable”.


    “I will not start elaborating on those challenges. There are challenges that reduce military effectiveness and we are going to address them. The president and commander-in- Chief is interested in what goes on in this Theatre, ” the COAS further said .

    He said, he has received some complaints from the troops and promised to address their demands as soon as possible.

    “I know you have pushed these terrorists so far. You will continue to do the same thing subsequently. Another thing is the issue of lack of equipment, I was briefed about it and we are making frantic efforts towards addressing that. As your Chief of Army staff, I have been equally told of your kitting, in the next couple of weeks, you will have your boots, your uniforms and protective gears”.

    “Furthermore, I know the issue of overstay in the mission have been a major problem. We will not do that almost immediately, but be rest assured that in the next couple of weeks or months, we shall have a standard rotation plan that most of you will  be replaced by some other soldiers, so that we can continue the war”.

    General Attahiru used the occasion to commend the soldiers for their bravery, gallantry as well as achievements recorded so far in the fight against insurgency stressing that the Army will continue to consolidate  on success earlier recorded in order to give a final blow to the terrorists.


    “I see this war ending soon so that all of us can go back and stay back with our families. 

    In the next couple of days, you will receive my command’s philosophy that will direct you on how we are going to run the Nigerian Army. A proud Army, a professional Army, an Army committed to make Nigerians proud that they indeed have an Army,” he concluded.

    The Chief of Air Staff of Niger; Col. Amirou Abduolkader, is to collaborate with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to fight against the incessant  insurgency within the border areas of the two states.

    The Niger chief of the  Air staff hinted this to Reporters in MAIDUGURI at the Air Task Force, ATF, Operation LAFIYA Dole in a joint efforts to end Bokoharam terrorism  on the  border regions of lake chad.

    Recall, the two countries share borders in the Lake Chad region, where insurgents are hibernating to launch attacks in communities on the shores of the lake.

    He called for a synergy with Nigeria in collaborative joint combatant aerial border patrol especially in insurgency affected communities which include, Diffa, Bosso, Damasak, Malam Fatori, Gashigar and Gudumbali, the council headquarters of Guzamala in Borno state.


    “My visit to the Maiduguri Air Force base was to reinforce the cordial relationship between the two countries’ militaries,” he said.

     “Our relationship has been very good. We need to put our effort together to face the challenge we have.

    “We need to go further to improve joint aerial coordination between our air and ground forces for maximum results.”

    He commended the NAF for its activities in containing bandits and insurgents along the border areas of two countries and  that Niger is committed to work with Nigeria to ensure security and sustain peace in both nations.

    Responding, the Air Task Force Commander, Air Commodore Abubakar Abdulkadir thanked Abduolkadar for the visit to the Maiduguri air force base.

    Air Force Destroys New Boko Haram Settlement In Borno

    The Air Task Force of the Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed a new Boko Haram settlement in Borno State.

    According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major-General, John Enenche, the latest feat was achieved on January 1 at Mana Waji of the state.

    “Air interdiction missions being conducted by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole have continued to deal decisive blows on terrorist elements operating in the North East Zone of the Country with the elimination of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and destruction of their structures and logistics store,” the statement read in part.

    “The airstrikes, which were executed employing a force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships, were carried out after series of aerial surveillance missions revealed that the new settlement was being used to store their weapons and logistics items and as well as plan and stage attacks. On sighting the NAF aircraft, the insurgents were seen fleeing the location.

    “Consequently, in a preemptive move, the NAF attack aircraft engaged the new location in successive passes, leading to the destruction of some of the structures and logistics stores. Several insurgents were also neutralized in the process”.
