About six persons have been feared killed with many missing and houses destroyed in renewed crisis between Omor and Anaku communities in Ayanmelu Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A source in the community said the lingering crisis resumed again on Monday, after a dispute among members of both communities.
The source said, “Up to 10 people were killed in Omor by people of Anaku on Monday evening. Security later arrived the area and tried to quell the situation. As I speak now, men of the military have taking over the communities.
Reacting to the development, the Spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that six people were killed, while also declaring that one Nnamdi Maduneke is wanted for instigating the violence, and also wielding an AK47 rifle.
Ikenga said, “The Anambra State Police Command is on the manhunt for Mr Nnamdi Maduneke and cohorts, wielding Ak47 rifles in the early hours of yesterday (Monday) according to information received, the suspect and his cohorts without any provocation started shooting indiscriminately in Omor Community, Anyamelum LGA and murdered six persons and inflicted serious injuries on two others.
“The joint task force team comprising police and military was deployed in the area. The presence of these security forces has reinforced the security of life and properties and enhanced the provision of law and order in the area.
“Preliminary information reveals that the cause of the incident is a protracted existing communal dispute between the two communities, Omor and Anaku in Anyamelum LGA.
“Meanwhile, patrol operations are still ongoing and the situation is being monitored. Further developments shall be communicated, please.”

10 Suspects Arrested Over Communal Clash in Benue by Military

At least ten suspects have been arrested by the Operation Whirl Stroke’s troops, 16 rifles and ammunition recovered in Ibilla and Ikpa communities in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State over a bloody Communal Clash which is currently rocking the area.
Day Break gathered that the aforementioned Communal Clash ensued when officials of the National Population Commission, NPC, commenced delineation exercise at a disputed border involving two communities.
It was learnt that many houses as well as other facilities were touched during the fracas where some members of the two communities attack each other.
The troops of the Operation Whirl Stroke who were deployed to the area allegedly arrested 10 suspects, recovered firearms among other items. The suspects are said to have been taken to Makurdi for investigation.
When contacted, the OPWS Commander, Maj. Gen. Adeyemi Yekini refused to comment on the incident.

By Musa Isa AhmedMany people are feared to death on a violent clash, between two tribes of lunguda and waja in Adamawa state.It was gathered that indigenous ‘Lunguda’ tribe and their ‘Waja’ settlers in Lafiya town under Lamurde local government area of the state, engaged each other in overnight violent confrontation.It was further learnt that over five villages of Momsurmi, Boshikiri, Zakawon and Burti villages have been burnt to ashes.Domestic animals and foodstuffs were also destroyed in the mayhem, which lasted several hours, before the military brought the situation under control.The conflict, was said to have been sparked by dispute over farmland ownership, causing the distraction of lives and property worth millions of naira.Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Crowther Seth, in company of the Brigade Commander of the 23 brigade Yola, Brigadier General Sani Gambo Mohammed, visited the scene, in the early hours of Wednesday.The deputy governor, who assured that government will investigate and bring perpetrators to book, warned against further escalation of the violence.Just last month, over 48 lives were lost in a similar communal clash in Tingno, under the same Lamurde local government area.However lamurde local government remain under fear no movement also be comes a danger zones as part of the linking roads from Gombe to the state capital Yola.
