    Gawuna says Kano Government has Done Well Security Wise

    Kano State Acting Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government towards ensuring the security of lives and properties of its citizens.

    He made the assertion on Monday when a delegation of participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC 15) from the National Institute for Security Studies paid a courtesy visit on him at the Government House.

    He further explained that in its efforts the State Government has expanded its security council to accommodate various security agencies through holding of meetings regularly to access the stable situation in the State.

    “You are in Kano, one of the most peaceful States in the country. The State is enjoying stability due to the concern and commitment shown by our Governor”.

    Gawuna however pointed out that the State Government has interest in the Institute and its programmes because they are meant to enhance security in the country.

    He expressed his appreciation for seeing participants from other States, related agencies and other neighbouring countries, therefore he assured of continued cooperation and collaboration with the institute so as to achieve the set objectives of security matters.

    The Commandant of the Institute, Alh. Ayodele Saheed Adeleke said the participants who are Deputy Directors by rank and equivalent in other services are in Kano on a study tour to examine diverse ways in which climate change affects the State with a view to foster solution for economic benefit, improve lives and protect the environment.

    While thanking the Acting Governor for the reception accorded to them…he added that the participants during course would also focus on intelligence, security, strategic and contemporary issues.

    Kano State Deputy Governor Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has resigned as the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

    “Praise be to Almighty Allah for giving me the strength and wisdom and also guiding me to steer the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources for the past seven years under our amiable Governor Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”

    “Through these years, I served as the Commissioner of Agriculture under the proactive leadership of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, I garnered alot of knowledge, broaden my perspective and acquired experience in the service of the people.”

    “In those years, we worked with vision and recorded alot of achievements in the agricultural sector,”

    I appreciate the opportunity given to me twice to serve as Commissioner under the purposeful Ganduje administration which today made me to be among the longest serving Commissioners of Agriculture in the country.”

    “My decision to resign as Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources is to further my political career.” I will continue to give contributions towards the development of the State as your loyal Deputy in the mandate given to us by Kano people, Gawuna said.

    Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has handed over power to his deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who will now be acting governor of the state following his travel to attend an Investment Summit at U.A.E.

    The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who announced this in a statement on Wednesday, said Governor Ganduje has been away to the United Arab Emirate, where he will be attending an Investment Summit being facilitated by the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF).

    He said the deputy governor has been empowered to act in full acting capacity pending the return of Governor Ganduje where the statement directed all commissioners, heads of extra-ministerial departments, top government functionaries, corporate and individuals to give the acting governor due recognition, support and cooperation.

    The statement further indicated that issues seeking the attention of the governor should be communicated to the Office of the Acting Governor as in accordingly.

    Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna was on Thursday elected Chairman of Forum of 36 States Commissioners for Agriculture at its inaugural meeting of Community Of Practice (C.O.P) held at Chida International Hotel Abuja.

    Gawuna who has been a Commissioner of Agriculture since 2014 was unanimously elected by the Commissioners of Agriculture in the country to lead their forum due to his commitment and contribution to the development of the sector.

    While thanking members of the forum of the C.O.P for reposing their confidence in him, the Deputy Governor assured of continued contribution towards implementing policies and programmes initiated by the Federal and States Governments to develop agricultural activities.

    In attendance during the meeting were the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development , Alhaji Mustapha Baba Shehuri the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, Commissioners of Agriculture from 36 States and other stakeholders.

    The next meeting of the C.O.P of the States Commissioners of Agriculture will hold on 12th May 2022 in Kano.

    Gawuna Applauds Centre for Dry Land Agriculture for Training

    Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has appreciate the Centre for Dry land Agriculture (CDA) Bayero University Kano for training about 1500 beneficiaries on different commodity value chain under the women and youth empowerment programme of APPEALS Project.

    He also commended the centre for the joint training it conducted on effective extension service delivery alongside Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA) for 129 newly recruited extension staff.

    “We are highly appreciative of the CDA in this regard and loot forward to more collaboration in future he said”.

    The Deputy Governor made the assertion on wednesday during the CDA open day to commemorate its 10th year anniversary and honour staff, partners and other stakeholders which held at the CDA training and research farm,Bayero University Kano.

    He further said during period CDA has recorded significant achievements in the area of teaching, training, research and outreach activities, infact its exceptional performance availed it to win another grant from the World Bank to the tune of 5 million U.S Dollars under the Africa Centres of Excellence for impact project.

    Gawuna however congratulate the CDA for attaining the feat of success it has achieved over the years and assured of cooperation and support.

    On his part, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas said the management team are ever willing to continue to support the centre in all its activities towards achieving its mission in addressing the African developmental challenges through cutting-edge research, knowledge transfer and training of high quality graduates which is tandem with the mission of the university.

    Speaking earlier the Director of CDA, Prof. Jibrin Muhammed Jibrin explained that the centre is a World Bank supported African for excellence established by Bayero University to serve as a regional training hub for the West and Central Africa sub-region.

    He added that the event is organised to honour staff and stakeholders who have contributed and impacted immensely towards achieving the the noble feat.

    Awards were presented to outstanding cleaner, driver, administration staff, extension supporting agents development and industrial partners.

    In attendance were the Chairman of House Of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Institutions Mannir Babba Dan Agundi, Kano State Government Officials, Members of Academic Community, Partners, Farmers and Students.
