    EASTER: Emulate virtues of our Lord Jesus Christ, Bishop Adegbite charges Christians

    The Executive Secretary Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission Bishop Stephen Adegbite in his Easter message has charged Christians to emulate the virtues of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Bishop Adegbite stated that if Christians would emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, indeed Nigeria and the world would be better for it.

    He said, ” Easter marks the resurrection of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, a culmination of his sacrifice and death in atonement of our sin.”

    According to the NCPC boss, the Easter season is the hallmark of our salvation, without which there would be no salvation.

    He noted that his message is anchored on sacrifice, humility, open hands and a message of Chief Servant, adding that leaders must follow what Jesus Christ did for us on this day.

    The Christian Pilgrim Officer emphasized that Easter ushers in hope, grace, trust and peace; it is a season of blessings and sacrifice.

    He added that Easter is a time for us to reflect on our relationship with God and a time for spiritual upliftment.

    “We are moving to the season of celebration and that Nigeria is a project of the Lord and would experience grace from the Lord.”

    Bishop Adegbite urged Christians to continue to pray for the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed TInubu led administration, stating that nothing good comes easy and that Nigeria is not the only country experiencing economic hardship which is a global phenomenon.

    He explained that the Commission’s mantra for the year is Renewed Hope and Satisfaction.

    Further , the Executive Secretary used the occasion of the season to celebrate President Bola Ahmed TInubu, on his 72nd birthday anniversary.
    He prayed that the Almighty God will continue to bless him and grant him good health of mind and body and excellent wisdom to pilot the affairs of our the nation.

    Easter: Embrace Christ’s Life of Sacrifice To Humanity, Gov. Bello Charges Christians

    Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello over the weekend enjoined Christians, all over the World to use the occasion of the 2023 Easter celebration to embrace Christ’s life of making sacrifices to humanity.

    The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed and made available to Journalists in Lokoja stressed the need for Christians to imbibe the good virtues of Jesus Christ to create a better and saner society.

    He congratulated the Christian faithful for the successful completion of the Lenten season, which he said was much-needed self-denial to pray for the peace of the country.

    “I wish to rejoice with our Christian brothers and sisters all over the world on the auspicious occasion of the 2023 Easter celebrations as a joyous holiday that represents the gratification of the prophecies and the revelation of God’s redemptive plan for the followers of Christ,” Bello said.

    While urging Nigerians to remain hopeful about the nation’s progress, Bello said Easter also signifies the celebration of the defeat of death and the hope for salvation.

    The governor added that just as the death, and resurrection of Christ signified hope for mankind, there must be a renewal of hope for our nation in this season of great challenges.

    While assuring the Christian faithful in Kogi state of the state’s commitment to a joyous celebration free of all hitches, he added that security operatives and other collaborating agencies are working together round-the-clock to checkmate crime and secure the lives and properties of citizens.

    Governor Bello noted that the 2023 general elections, which will usher in a new breed of leaders across the country by May 29 represent a watershed for Nigeria.

    He insisted that all citizens who participated effectively in the process of electing the new leaders into the various offices “must also commit themselves to pray for the smooth transition of government, growth and prosperity of the country.”

    Easter: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Friday 7 and Monday 10, April 2023 as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

    The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration in Abuja.

    Aregbesola, in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Begore, on Wednesday, urged Christians to emulate the virtues of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace and patience which were attributes and practices of Jesus Christ, as exemplified by His ministry on the earth.

    The minister called on Christians and all Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration to pray for an end to the security challenges in parts of the country.

    Aregbesola said “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry”.

    The minister assured that the Federal Government is doing all that is necessary to ensure a peaceful transition of government following the peaceful conduct of elections.

    While wishing Christians at home and in the Diaspora a happy and peaceful Easter celebration, he also enjoins them to love their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity of spirit, with the well-to-do sharing their substance with the less privileged around them.

    Aregbesola once more assures Nigerians that the nation is persistently on the path to greatness and urges all to positively deploy their creative energy for the full realisation of the coming prosperity.

    Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State and a gubernatorial aspirant of the party has felicitated with Christians in the state.

    In a statement signed and issued to our correspondent by the director media and publicity of Dr. Jamil Gwamna campaign organisation Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the season is a reflection of what Jesus Christ did on the cross to redeem mankind to their maker as the season is, therefore, one of sacrifice and love, hence, “I urge all Christians in Gombe State and beyond to make sacrifices and love, more deeply rooted in their daily lives.” He emphasized.

    The statement added that In spite, the many challenges being faced, Christians have enough reasons to be grateful to God especially for being part of this year’s celebration and “In the course of the celebration, let’s extend the same love that God had shown to mankind to our neighbours and share more to ensure that those who do not have, have a reason to smile this season.” Said Gwamna

    In conclusion, Dr Gwamna urged Christians to use the season as an opportunity to offer more prayers for the prosperity and growth of the country and the Gombe State. The gubernatorial hopeful also called on the good people of Gombe State to play politics with all sense of decorum and responsibility as elections draw near for the good of Gombe State.

    Easter: Police, Civil Defence, FRSC deploy 2,883 in A’Ibom

    The Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps ,NSCDC and the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, said it has deployed 2,883 Officers and operatives to beef up security and ensure smooth traffic this Easter in Akwa Ibom.

    A statement from the state Police Public Relations Offficer, Odiko Macdon made available to newsmen in Uyo yesterday said 1,336 officers and men have been mobilized to provide an enabling environment for the celebration.

    A similar statement from the state command of the NSCDC endorsed by Command PRO, Mr Ekerette Friday said 1,000 of its personnel have been mobilized to beef up security while the FRSC according to it’s Public Enlightenment Officer, Mr Paul James said 547 operatives including Special Marshalls have been deployed.

    According to the Police statement, “the CP felicitates with the Government and all Akwa Ibomites, particularly the Christian Community on the occasion of Easter, while urging the good people of the state to continue to be law abiding and report criminal elements intending to truncate the prevailing peace in the State.

    “The Command wishes to assure Residents and Visitors that it will continue to emplace germaine contemporary security strategies to enhance the security of the State.”

    The NSCDC statement said the personnel were drawn from the Armed squad, Agro Ranger, Counter Terrorism, Special female squad, Anti-vandal units and the department of Intelligence operations to mount identified hotspots within the state.

    The statement read in part, “to achieve a hitch free Easter celebrations, the Akwa Ibom State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Abidemi Majekodunmi has deployed one thousand(1000) personnel to beef up security in the state all through the Easter celebrations and beyond.

    “Patrol teams have been constituted to patrol various identified hotspots within the state. Commandant Majekodunmi has also directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and heads of tactical squads to ensure effective policing of their immediate environment, paying attention to public places, worship centres and institutions.”

    The FRSC said the measure was to align with the Corps strategic goal of 15% reduction in road traffic crash fatality, and ensure free-flow of traffic for ease of doing business in the state.

    “For effective coverage of all critical areas, 11 Patrol Vehicles and 2 Ambulances were also deployed, while arrangement had been made for tow trucks to clear any obstruction during the period.

    “To strategically administer her statutory functions, the Command will, in addition to the regular patrol operations, conduct Mobile court session in conjunction with the judiciary, carry out traffic count to determine vehicular volume in relation to various routes of the state, conduct traffic control at gridlock areas, deploy standby rescue team for rescue operation when the need arises and conduct Breathalyzer test to ascertain blood alcohol concentration of drivers during patrol operation and at the motor parks.” It said.

    As Christians mark the celebration of Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has felicitated with the Christian community on this year’s Easter celebration.

    The Speaker in a statement by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna enjoined Christians to use the period for sober reflection by exhibiting sacrifice, love, and support for one another, especially to the less privileged ones as exhibited by Jesus Christ.

    Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi called on Christians to use the period to intensify prayers for the nation and its leadership, stressing the need for citizens to have faith in God and the Government as according to him the security and other challenges facing the country can be overcome and will soon be a thing of the past.

    The Nasarawa State Number Three Citizen also called on Nigerians to use the period and pray for the success of the upcoming General Elections and the many challenges facing the nation , especially at this unique and special period where Christians are ending the 40 days fasting of lent and Muslims are also half way into the holy month of the Ramadan Fasting respectively.

    The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Edward .C Egbuka, has assured the people of the State of adequate Security measures by the command during the festive period.

    In a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya said the command
    in synergy with other Security agencies would ensure safety of lives and property during the period and beyond.

    He pointed out that, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have been directed to ensure adequate Security of lives and property in their respective Area of Responsibilities.

    CP Egbuka therefore charged them to carry out intensive patrol along the major highways , intelligence led-Operation aimed at curbing the excesses of criminal elements threatening the internal Security.

    He urge Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Youth Groups, Market Bodies, Farmers, Hunters, Vigilante, Transport Union, Okada Union and Tricycle Union to ensure maximum support in the fight against criminal especially kidnappers, armed bandits and other heinous crime.

    The Commissioner of Police assured the people of the State of the renewed commitment of the Command to sustain the tempo of the fight against criminality in the State.

    CP Egbuka who felicitated with Christians on the occasion of 2022 Easter Celebration stressed that a guarantee protection of lives and property is unequivocal and unwavering.

    The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation NBBF, Mr.Igoche Mark has congratulated Nigerian Christians on this year’s Easter celebration.

    Mark, in a his Easter message, said the season was a signal to the importance of sacrifice in our daily lives,while noting the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was all about love, sharing and laying down of a precious seed which has birthed salvation.

    “I join our Christian brothers and sisters to celebrate this year’s Easter, especially our Basketball Stakeholders.     The NBBF President also saluted Muslim faithful who are currently about half-way into the holy month of Ramadan,as he charged them to pray, assist the poor, abhor injustice and strife, give alms and engage in self-examination.

    The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Oyo State Command, Michael Adaralewa urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religion to be law abiding during the Easter celebration and beyond.

    He said this in a Statement on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,DSC Okuneye Oyindamola in Ibadan; it also said the State Command has deployed 2,000 personnel to different places in the state to ensure a hitch -free Easter Celebration; he then assured the citizens, that the Command is ready to collaborate with other agency to secure lives and properties of people in Oyo state during and after the Easter celebration.

    Adaralewa also enjoined the Christian faithful to reminisce on the lesson of forgiveness, suffering, passion and love to Christ during the lent and also pray to God for the success of governments in discharging her duties.

    He added that, the deployment will not only safe guard individuals, but that it will serve as a deterrent to elements that are criminally minded that might want to perpetrate criminality,he listed the components of the deployment: Armed squad,Agro rangers, Intelligence Department,Counter terrorism Units among others.

    The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18, 2022, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Easter.

    The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made this known in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, on Tuesday.

    While urging Christians to emulate the attributes of sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace and patience, as exemplified by Jesus Christ’s ministry on earth, he asked them to pray for an end to the insecurity bedevilling the country.

    The Minister, however, assured that the Federal Government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the recent attacks by undesirable elements on the highways, airport and the railway are timely brought to an end.

    The statement read in part, “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public-spiritedness at this critical time in the history of our country, by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.
