    Engr. Gusau Hails Tobi Amusan, Others For Emerging CAA’s Best in 2022

    The President of the  Confederation of African Athletics, CAA Region II, Engr. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau has congratulated the best ranked Athletes, Coaches and Technical Official for the year 2022, as released by the Confederation of African Athletics.

    Engr.Gusau in a statement issued and signed on Tuesday says the commitment and resilience of those selected typified the “African Spirit” of always striving to be the best.

    The statement reads,”I congratulate those who made the CAA’s list as the best in Africa.The commitment and resilience of those of you selected typify the African Spirit of always striving to be the best. As you all are aware, what makes a champion is the consistency and the quest to always pull the rabbit out of the hat; look beyond 2022.

    On behalf of CAA Region II, I want to congratulate you for being the beacon of victory in Africa.Let’s do more in the years ahead.”The statement reads.   

    The list released on Monday by the athletics continental body saw Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan topped the female category, as she was closely followed by Faith Kipyegon of Kenya; while the trio of Letesenbeth Gidey, Goytom Gbreslase and Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia occupied the third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

    In the male category, Morroco’s Soufiame El Bakkali emerged as the best male athletes; while Kenya’s duo of Ellud Kipchoge and Emmanuel Kortr occupied the second and third place respectively.Ugandan’s 1000m runner, Joshua Cheptegei was placed fourth and Tamarit Tola of Ethiopia occupied the fifth spot.

    Bostwana’s Kebonemodisa Dose Mosimanyane emerged as the best coach in Africa; as Kenya’s duo of Patrick Kiprop Sang and Paul.N. Ereng took the second and third spot as the best coach respectively.The CAA named Khemraj Naiko of  Mauritus as the best Technical Official of the Continent.

    In his quest to give the good people of Zamfara state a new hope amidst the current state of banditry, kidnapping and economic woes being witnessed in the state, Engr. Ibrahim Shehu Gusau
    on Tuesday picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship nomination form at the Party’s headquarters in Abuja.

    Gusau who was denied the party’s ticket in 2019 despite being favourite, has constantly maintained that the economic and social well being of the good people of Zamfara state is non negotiable.

    Speaking to Journalists in Abuja, the Sports Administrator said the people of his state deserve freedom, peace and security; which can only be championed by a true leader.

    “The good people of Zamfara state need freedom, peace and security. At moment, these ingredients have become strangers to my people and it is against the backdrop of these challenges and with every sense of modesty, I am offering my self to serve the good people of Zamfara state. The economic and social well being of my people is non negotiable. The freedom, peace and security of my people can only be championed by a true leader.”Gusau stated

    Gusau Promises To Unite AFN Family As Kebbi Bubbles With Delegates’ Arrival

    The incumbent President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria Engr Ibrahim Shehu Gusau says he will use the next term to unite the Athletics Federation of Nigeria if he wins the election in Kebbi on Monday.

    Gusau promised to consolidate on his previous achievements in the federation especially in the areas of athletes’ exposure and development. 

    “We have spent the last four years in leadership tussle and unnecessary bickering. This is precious time that we could have used to improve the lot of the athletes because they are the reason why we are here.

    “However, we will make it up to them and bring the entire Athletics family to a round table where we will iron out all grievances and map out new strategies to move Athletics forward in Nigeria. Top on our list now is to ensure a podium appearance at the Tokyo Olympic Games,” Gusau said. 

    Meanwhile, Kebbi state is now a beehive of activities with almost all the delegates arriving for the forthcoming Athletics Federation of Nigeria elections slated for Monday June 14. 

    An excited  President of the AFN Engr Ibrahim Shehu Gusau  said that the elections will mark a new chapter in the history of athletics in  Nigeria.

    “I am so happy that delegates from various states are here in Kebbi already and many arrived even  four days to the elections. This is impressive as  delegates are also fraternizing in a friendly atmosphere,” the AFN Pfesident said. 

    Gusau who is  vying for a second term in office as President,  expressed optimism that the elections will be transparent and 

    hitch-free. 

    He added that in the spirit of unity and oneness, interests of all contestants will be protected while a level playing field will be available to all before and during the election.
