    The Kogi state Police Command on Thursday in Lokoja confirmed an explosion that occurred at Odiji in Okene local government area of the state. The nature of the explosion is yet to be determined

    The State Police Public Relations Officer, Williams Ayah, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has however deployed men of the Anti-bomb unit to ascertain the nature of the explosion.

    He said until the team visit the scene of the incident and carries out the investigation, only then would the nature of the explosion been determined.

    The explosion was said to have occurred at idoji area of Okene in the evening at a venue where masquerades were said to be celebrating a particular festival.

    Many persons were said to have been injured following the explosion.

    Barely three weeks of an explosion in Kabba that generated controversies as to whether it was a bomb or Gas cylinder, occurred at a beer parlour around Lewu Junction in Kabba, another explosion has occurred in the same Kabba town in Kogi state.

    The Police Command in Kogi on Sunday confirmed another yet to be ascertained explosion in Kabba Town of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

    The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye-Aya who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja, said there was no casualty.

    The police spokesperson explained that the explosion happened at one Omofemi Bar at Okepadi Quarters, Kabba, around 9.15pm of Sunday
    adding “As it is now, there is no casualty, but only chairs and tables and the building is affected by the yet to be determined nature of explosion.”

    “Already the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Egbuka, has directed our DC Investigations and the Bomb detective Squad to move to the scene to ascertain the very nature of the explosion.”

    “The police is on top of the situation as our officers and men drafted to the area have cordoned the place until investigation reveals the real cause of the explosion.”

    “It’s very unfortunate that criminal elements are out to disrupt the prevailing peace we are enjoying in Kogi. We shall not rest untill we bring to book such elements and let them see the need for maintenance of peace in our society.” he warned.

    Ovye-Aya called on the people of Okepadi and Kabba to be calm and go about their normal duties without any fear as the police were on top of the situation.

    While lives were lost in the first explosion that occurred on 11th May 2022, no person was affected beside property.

    Explosion: Three feared dead, many others injured in Kabba

    An explosion has occurred in Kabba ,Kogi state on Wednesday, claiming the lives of three and many others injured.

    Sources told our correspondent that the incident happened at 9:45 pm at a beer parlour, around Lewu junction, Kabba,as people were making merry.

    The source explained that he heard a loud sound from where he was,he went there only to find three dead bodies and others injured; the injured ones were taken to St.John’s General Hospital Kabba for medical attention.

    The Commissioner, Kogi state Police Command, Edward Egbuka,told our Correspondent that reports indicated that it was a gas explosion and that more details will be given about the explosion after investigation.

    Over 1,500 People Benefits From Tajudeen Free Medical Outreach In Kabba

    About 1,500 Patients with different ailments from Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu local councils were over the weekend given free medical treatment in a three-day Free medical outreach organised by the Lawmaker representing Kabba / Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf.

    Speaking at the outreach centre at Saint Augustine College Kabba, the Lawmaker noted that health challenges of his people is paramount to him as efforts must be intensified to improve on their healthcare regularly.

    The Lawmaker who was represented at the treatment centre by Hon. Olajide Abijere pointed out that this monovalent gesture is a yearly routine and enjoined those with different health challenges to key into the provisions.

    “As part of my campaign promises to my constituents, all efforts would be intensified to improve the living standard of my people by  bringing health care delivery freely to their doorsteps.”

    Hon. Yusuf pointed out that once there is an improved health care, the economic development of the citizenry would definitely improve which according to him challenged his zeal and determination to empower his constituents and  provide their immediate needs where possible.

    In his reaction, the leader of the medical team, Dr. Ayodele Eleruwere disclosed that the prevalence ailments discovered in the random sampling showed that majority of those tested are of High Blood Pressure and Diabetes while few complained of fever.

    Dr. Eleruwere further pointed out that most complains brought so far were addressed while the ones that needed education like those with High PB and Diabetes were educated on the needs to improve on their diets and regular exercise.

    One the beneficiaries, and a retired civil servant, Femi Emmanuel Sunday appreciated the Lawmaker for ploughing back to his electorates stressing that the present economic downturn has made healthcare services and drugs unaffordable to many families in the society.

    The Retiree commended the publicity team for carrying out a wider campaigns and publicity that heralded many people to benefit from the laudable free medical outreach of Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf and enjoined other politicians to emulate the good gesture of Tajudeen.

    The outreach which was facilitated by the Lawmaker, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, was presented by the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons in conjunction with Jabbey Lincon International, Ltd.
