    A Soldier, Three Bandits Escapes From Army Custody in Kogi

    Fear Grips Lokoja Residence as three bandit including a soldier, detained for refusing to fight boko Haram have escaped from army custody at Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja Kogi State.

    The Soldier was said to have been moved from Maiduguri, Borno state to Lokoja when he allegedly resisted fighting boko haram insurgent and detained alongside three Suspected bandits in Lokoja.

    It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday night when Lokoja witnessed its first rain.

    According to a source in the army who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the army has intensified efforts to recapture the escaped bandits and the soldier.

    “The Army is making frantic effort to arrest the four suspects. We reliably learnt that the soldier was seen with a rifle as he allegedly aided the escape of the three Bandits.”

    “He has been in our cell here, waiting for when he will be tried. Unfortunately, when it rained heavily on Sunday, the Soldier used the opportunity to escape when officers on duty were asleep. As I speak to you, the army has mounted surveillance in every entry and exit points of Kogi State to ensure the escapees are re-arrested”.

    The Public Relations Officer, Command Army Record, Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja Kogi State Lieutenant David Adewusi, however, denied knowledge of the story adding “I have no comment to make as I am not aware of anything like that”.

    The kogi State Police command said on Wednesday that it has arrested three suspected kidnappers from their hide out along Okene Auchi road.

    Similarly, the command said it’s men equally intercepted and recovered twelve Cows suspected to have been rustled, while suspects escaped into the bush.

    According to DSP William Ovye Aya
    Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Kogi State Police Command, Efforts are on to trail the suspects with a view to apprehend them to face justice.

    “Based on intelligence tip-off on criminal hideouts along Auchi-Okene road, consequently, the Divisional Police Officer, Okene Division SO Muhammad Nasir ISA promptly swung into action, mobilized his team and moved to the scene and arrested three (3) suspects namely; Mohammed Shehu, Idris Suleiman and Abubakar Ibrahim.” He added.

    “The suspects confessed belonging to a gang terrorizing Okene and its environs. Investigation is in progress. Suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.

    Items recovered from them includes, One Dane gun, two Cartridges, food items and the sum of N45,000.

    “In another development, the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, attached to Okene Division in an intelligence led operations in collaboration with the Professional Hunters Association along Okene-Lagos road on Monday intercepted and recovered twelve Cows suspected to have been rustled.”

    “When the suspects sighted the security forces, abandoned the Cows and ran away. Efforts is on to trail suspects with a view to apprehend them to face justice.”

    Kogi Police Command Nabs 4 Suspected Kidnappers, Armed Robbers In Bassa

    The kogi state police Command said that it has arrested four suspected kidnappers and armed robbers who have been terrorizing the people of Bassa Local government area and it’s environs.

    In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP William Ayah, said arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspected criminals.

    Among the items recovered from the suspects were: One Locally Made Pistol, One 7.62mm Ammunition, One Cartridge, One G3 Ammunition and two human skulls.

    “Following a credible intelligence that, suspected kidnappers/armed robbers who have been terrorizing Bassa Local Government and it’s environs were sighted in a compound at new Jarusalem Oguma area in Bassa, Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Bassa Division led by the DPO promptly swung into action.”

    “They stormed the compound and arrested the following suspects;
    Guda Dangana, Dogo Chure, Dekina Zhiya, Samson Nyizo
    all from Bassa Local Government.” the statement added.

    The statement further stressed that the suspects have made useful confession on series of criminal activities within Bassa axis and will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

    “The Commissioner of Police CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban psc, while commending the prompt response of the officers, assured members of the public that, Kogi State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies in the State will not rest on it’s Oars on the continue onslaught against criminality in the State.
