  • Kogi Polls: DSS Drills APC Candidate, Ododo For Hours Over A Petition

    The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, was on Saturday drilled for hours by the Director of security service (DSS) regarding a petition against him by some members of the opposition.

    It was gathered that he was invited by the DSS and as a law abiding citizen who is aspiring to lead the state, he honoured the invitation.

    According to him, shortly after honouring the invitation, Alhaji Usman Ododo said allegations contained in the petition are frivolous and unfounded, but “it was incumbent of me to respect a constituted authority such as the DSS.”

    Alh. Ododo was drilled by a team of Operatives at the DSS for hours and he gave convincing explanations to the interrogators.

    “We commend the professionalism of the DSS and pledge our cooperation to whatever measures taken or that would be taken to ensure a peaceful Kogi and a peaceful poll in November 2023.”

    “We assure supporters of the APC GOVERNORSHIP candidate that he has since left the DSS Office to continue his consultations with Kogites ahead of the Guber poll.”

    “Our commitment to peace and tranquility is iron cast. Every Kogite and every supporter of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo should endeavour to be peaceful in all their activities towards the election.”

    Kogi Polls: Olayinka Braimoh Picks Action Alliance’ Ticket For Guber Race

    A Philanthropist, Mr. Olayinka Braimoh on Monday in Lokoja emerged the winner of the Action Alliance (AA) primary election for the November 11th Governorship polls in Kogi State.

    Mr. Olayinka Braimoh scored 101 votes against his counterpart, Simon Ogwu who scored four votes out of the 105 accredited delegates for the primary election.

    Announcing the results after the option A4 system of Primary election held at Reverton Hotel Lokoja, the Chairman of Kogi State Action Alliance ( AA), Electoral Committee, Mr. James Benebe said having scored the highest votes of 101, Mr. Olayinka Braimoh has been declared the winner of the AA primary election against his rival, Simon Ogwu who scored 4 votes.

    Earlier before the commencement of the primary election, One of the Aspirants, Haruna Adah Sylvester stepped down for Mr. Braimoh, saying he believes in his capacity and outstanding leadership qualities.

    The Election was conducted free and credible and it was monitored my security agencies and Representatives of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

    In his acceptance Speech, Mr. Olayinka Braimoh, the Action Alliance Governorship Candidate thanked the national, State leaderships and supporters of the party for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he will not disappoint them.

    He pointed out that what prompted him to join the race was the burden of penury and how to alleviate the citizenry from the high rate of poverty in the land.

    According to him, his emergence is the beginning of a journey to wealth creation, distribution and retention of the economy towards creating happiness for the people of the State.

    The Action Alliance flag bearer pointed out that kogi state is blessed with natural resources adding that if voted into power, he will use the resources of the state for wealth creation and distribution for the people.

    Mr. Braimoh further disclosed that the consumption rate in the land is higher than the production level of major sectors especially the agriculture. He expressed optimism that with the support of Kogi people, he will deliver on the mandate given him.

    He assured that if given the opportunity, he will ensure steady cashflow for production and generation of wealth adding that no matter how skillful one may be, he/she cannot grow economically without market.

    The AA Candidate promised to give priority attention to tourism development in the state especially with the natural geographical location of kogi, the confluence state.
