The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, FCT, Abdullahi Sabo, has promised to modernise motor parks in the area to enhance the council’s Internally Revenue Generation (IGR).

Sabo made the promise when the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kuje branch, visited him at the council’s headquarters in Kuje, on Wednesday.

He said the Kuje Motor Park project would be handled by competent contractors that would be chosen through a due and transparent process.

He noted that said that the modernisation of the motor parks would enhance quality services to passengers and motorists, as well as create employment opportunities and revenue generation for the council.

“’The area council will modernise the parks, especially the popular `Wowo Motor Park’ to a modern standard so that the union will have a befitting park.

“’The modernisation will increase both the council and the union’s revenue.

“Competent contractors will handle the project and affected shop owners in the park will be adequately considered,” he said.

Alhaji Ndama Idris, the Kuje NURTW, Chairman said the union had taken proactive measures to transform the transport sector, as well as check the operations of some illegal motor parks in the area.
