    Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has dissolved the board and management team of Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi, in a move aimed at repositioning the club for improved accountability and performance.

    This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula. The statement explained that the decision forms part of the government’s strategy to strengthen the club’s structure and ensure greater efficiency in both the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and other competitions.

    Governor Alia expressed appreciation to the outgoing board and management for their service to the club and the state. He assured fans and stakeholders that a new management structure would soon be announced to drive Lobi Stars to the next level of development.

    The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development, emphasizing that it serves as a vital platform for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social cohesion in Benue State.

    In his directive, Governor Alia ordered all members of the dissolved board and management to immediately hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Youths, Sports and Creativity.

    Gov Ortom Dissolves Management of Lobi Stars FC Over Poor Performance

    Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday dissolved the Tama Aondofa led management team of Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi over abysmal performance.

    The Governor made the dissolution at the Government House, Makurdi during a press conference, lamenting that within one year the club has gone down the drain.

    Ortom who spoke through the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr Benson Abounu, declared thus: ” Tama was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the club and in less than one year, Lobi Stars appears to be going down the drain. We have done everything possible to make the club rise again but to no avail”.

    Continuing, he noted that ” we became disturbed when the club was placed on number 13th, the Governor who is the Proprietor of the club and myself summoned Tama, he promised that the club was going to rise again, but instead of rising we were going down, from 13th position, we moved to 14th position, from 14th to 17th and today we are on the 19th position on the league table, this is dangerous.”

    The Governor who described the poor performance of team Lobi at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, as embarrassing, pointed out that the club was at the top only for it to be relegated in three years.

    He assured that Tama’s successor would be given free hand to put in place formidable team that will not only save the club from relegation but will also take Lobi Stars to higher height.

    Meanwhile, the former Chairman of the Club, Mr Dominic Iorfa has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars by the Governor. The appointment is with immediate effect.

    The Governor described Iorfa as an experienced football administrator. ” Iofa’s experience and knowledge of football administration will become useful in saving the club.”

    Lobi Stars FC Will Floor Akwa United in Next Sunday’s NPFL Match, Management Assures

    The Management of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi , have expressed optimism that the team would defeat the Akwa United Football Club in next Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

    Leader of the Club, Mr Tama Aondofa who gave this assurance in Makurdi at the weekend, contended that the team has been strengthened and is looking forward to a better outing against visiting Akwa United.

    In a statement by Emmanuel Uja, Head of Media of the club indicated that the technical crew of the Makurdi premiership club has corrected noticeable errors made in time past.

    According to the statement, management assured that Akwa United will meet a different Lobi’s team, which is poised to give their teaming supporters something to cheer home with.

    The statement reads in part: ” Football pundits described the aforementioned encounter as a star match of the week in view of the pedigree of the two teams.

    The management implored supporters of the club to turn out in their numbers and cheer the team to victory, stressing that each ticket qualified the fans for a raffle draw to win some gifts.

    NPFL: Rangers target good result against Lobi Stars FC in Markudi

    Salisu Yusuf, the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu Technical Adviser, said that the club has perfected plans to get a decent result against Lobi Stars FC of Markudi.

    Lobi Stars FC will be hosting Rangers FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) rescheduled match day six on Wednesday in Markudi.

    Yusuf told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday that the club had prepared very well for the battle in Markudi.

    “We have prepared well, induced the player with what they need to know and what is expected of them in the match.

    ”Though, this match is like a derby because Lobi Stars FC coach worked with Rangers FC few months ago.

    ”I think with the preparation we have had, we are going there to get a positive result as we are now channeling all our efforts to the league,” he said.

    He said that it was never the club`s intention to exit the ongoing confederation cup at the group stage.

    ”It has happened and now we are determined to repay our numerous fans and the Enugu State Government with a continental slot come next season,” he said.

    He said that it would be a big task for the club considering its current position on the log.

    ”Yes, we are on 18th position in the league log with six outstanding matches.

    ”By the time we finish executing all these matches, we will be rubbing shoulder with the teams already in the continental position of the league.

    ”We have lots of talented players to prosecute the matches and the upcoming federation cup,” the coach said.

    Yusuf noted that the club recently added four good players to the team so that it can rotate the players.

    The new players are: Isreal Abia formally of Sunshine Stars FC, Ifeanyi Nweke from Kano Pillars FC, Ifebu Ojukwu from Fakkada FC and Franklin Ebuka from Wikki Tourist FC.

    He expressed satisfaction with the reduction in the club injury woes, saying that the club injured players are responding well to treatment.

    ”The injury we have in the club at the moment is not like the ones at the beginning of the league,” he said.

    Rangers now occupy the 18th position on the league log with 15 points after 12 matches from the 18 weeks old league. (NAN)
