    Allege Blasphemy: Sokoto Police Confirm Butcher’s Murder By Mobs

    Investigation has commenced on Usman Buda of Gwandu LGA.

    A Butcher at Sokoto Abbatoir allegedly blasphemed the Holy prophet Muhammad (SAW), as a result he was mobbed and attacked by some muslim faithfuls and inflicted serious injuries on him.

    Statement by the command’s spokesman ASP Ahmad Rufai said upon receiving the information, the Commissoner of Police, Area Commander Metro and DPO kwanni Police station led all operational commanders to the scene. On arrival, the mobs escaped the scene and left the victim unconscious where he was rescued and taken to Usmanu Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH) for treatment and was later Confirmed dead at the said Hospital.

    The Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, Ali Hayatu Kaigama therefore appealed to members of the public to go about their lawful activities and should not panic as the situation is under control.

    Meanwhile, Investigation is on to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.

    Three suspected electricity transformer vandals have been burnt alive at Igweledoha Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

    The suspects, including the first son of a late traditional ruler in the area, were accused of vandalising transformers in Igweledoha, Ndufu Amata and Ekawoke, all in Ikwo.

    An eyewitness, who did not want his name mentioned, explained that luck ran out on them around 2am on Friday when they were caught with some transformer parts.

    He noted that they were five in number but two escaped while three, including the son of a former traditional ruler, were meted with jungle justice.

    “As I am talking to you, they are now on fire. The blaze is still on at Igweledoha Square Roundabout in Ikwo Local Government Area,” he said.

    Asked why the suspects were not handed over to the police by the community, the eyewitness explained that they were afraid that the police would release them after a while, which would allow them return to continue with their nefarious activities.

    “If I say we don’t have security, you may think I am wrong, but the police are not doing their job. If you hand them over to the police, after few days, they would be released,” the eyewitness claimed.

    When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, said he was yet to receive the report.

    Jungle justice: Mob lynches suspect as hoodlums stab youth to death

    Hoodlums on Saturday stabbed a youth to death at Yan Doya community, in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

    It was learnt that the victim was walking along the road when the gang attacked him with a knife, which led to his death.

    An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said an angry mob chased after the hoodlums and beat one of them to death.

    The eyewitness said, “An incident happened yesterday night (Saturday) behind Yan Doya Market by Yan Ganda in the Jos North LGA.

    “A man was walking back home when a group of thugs attacked him with a knife. He fell and died.

    “When some people heard what happened, they ran after the thugs, who fled the scene. However, one of them (thugs) was caught and beaten to death.”

    It was learnt that some policemen later arrived at the scene and took the corpse of the suspected hoodlum, while the relatives of the stabbed man took him away for burial on Sunday around 11am.

    The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, when contacted, said the incident had not been reported to his office.

    Mob Set Ablaze Three Suspected Robbers In Abia

    Mob has set ablaze three suspected armed robbers in Aba Local Government Area of Abia State.

    It was gathered that the suspects have been terrorising Point of Sale (POS) operators at Abayi, along Aba-Owerri Road in Aba.

    The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a statement on Monday.

    He said the robbers were burnt to death on Sunday in an effort to escape the scene of the crime, adding that the situation caused gridlock along Osisioma.

    “The jungle justice is preventing police authority to further probe the activities of robbery kingpin in the area, which has been terrorizing the residents; we don’t know their names, even the suspect that escaped,” the police spokesman said.

    While condemning the incident, he warned residents of the state against taking laws into their hands as the Abia State Police Command will not tolerate jungle justice in whatever guise.

    The three suspected criminals set ablaze were said to be among those terrorising Afor-Ule, Umuimo and Kamalu streets in the Osisioma axis of Aba.

    Reports say they were separately set ablaze; one opposite UBA building, while others were burnt at Union Bank junction and Star Paper Mill by Kamalu Street, all along Aba/Owerri Road.

    Mob kills 6 bandits in Kaduna

    6 bandits have been killed on different occassions in Sanga and Lere local government areas of Kaduna State after 2 people were killed.

    The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said the security report presented to the Kaduna State Government on Friday December 25 and the operational feedback from security agents indicate that the bandits were killed by mob action.

    The report read;

    “On 24th December 2020 at Fadan Karshi in Sanga local government area, two bandits attacked a businessman and dispossessed him of money and other valuables. On receiving the distress call, the military and police set out to the location. However, on getting to the scene, some angry locals had already mobbed the bandits and burnt them to ashes.”

    Aruwan who disclosed that armed bandits opened fire on motorists plying the Aboro-Kafanchan Road on Thursday night, also revealed that in Lere LGA, security agencies reported that bandits from a neighbouring state who specialised in stealing livestock were also killed through mob action. The bandits were chased and overpowered at Domawa village where three of them met their end in the hands of a mob.

    He said;

    “The bullets hit one Richard Sabo who in the course of driving knocked down one of the bandits to death. Sadly, Mr. Sabo who suffered bullet wounds was confirmed dead at Gwantu General Hospital.”

    The commissioner also revealed that the Kaduna government had received a report of the killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Hudu Yahaya of Ungwan Nungu village of Sanga LGA, adding that he was beheaded by bandits who escaped with his motorcycle.

    The statement added;

    “Gov. Nasir el-Rufai has sent condolences to the families of Richard Sabo and Hudu Yahaya and prayed for the repose of their souls. The governor has also made a strong appeal to citizens to continue to have recourse to the law and not resort to jungle justice.”
