    Progress wins Nigerian Idol season 7

    Progress has emerged winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7.

    He was announced as winner of the edition on Sunday.

    Zadok and Progress were the two contestants in the finale of the show .

    As the winner, he will walk away with 30 million naira, a brand new SUV, a recording deal and other exciting prices.

    The show started with top 12 contestants who emerged from the preliminary stage.

    Banty was last week eliminated from the show, leaving Zadok and Progress to battle for the grand prize.

    Nigerian Idol Season 7 Returns With Dbanj, Simi As Judges

    Nigerian Idol is back with a fresh season and new judges on the show.

    Music stars D’Banj and Simi were revealed as judges on Tuesday as the countdown to the show’s premiere in February 2022 begins

    D’Banj and Simi replace season six judges Seyi Shay and DJ Sose to join Obi Asika on the panel.

    Popular radio and TV personality, IK Osakioduwa, will be returning as the host of the show.

    Speaking on their new roles, D’Banj and Simi promised to bring their A-game to match Asika’s proficiency and words of improvement to the contestants from the auditions to the finale.

    Speaking on the introduction of new judges for the new season, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola during the unveiling said: “We could not think of a better trio to be the season’s judges than Obi Asika, D’banj, and Simi. The three of them combined bring decades’ worth of experience in the music and entertainment business, as well as individual mastery of their crafts.”

    D’banj, excited to be selected as one of the judges, said, “I was out of the country when I found out that I was going to be a judge for this season of Nigerian Idol and I couldn’t contain my excitement. I’m coming in with my own strategy so viewers should expect a bang.”

    Nigerian Idol season six ended last year with Kingdom Kroseide emerging winner after months of the intense contest. He won a grand prize of N30 million in cash and N20 million worth of other gifts.

    MultiChoice Announces Audition for Nigerian Idol Season 7

    Leading media and entertainment company, MultiChoice Nigeria, has announced the return of the singing competition Nigerian Idol. Last season saw Kingdom Kroseide clinching the crown as the sixth winner of the show.

    Announcing the new season, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, said: “MultiChoice remains committed to promoting and giving young music talents in Nigeria a platform to shine and actualize their dreams. Season seven promises to be even bigger and more entertaining.”

    For the seventh season, online auditions will open on November 14 and close on November 28. Interested contestants are advised to upload a 60-second video of them singing any song of their choice to the Africa Magic website. The competition is only open to contestants between 16 and 30 years of age.

    The show will return to the DStv and GOtv screens in February 2022.

    Gov Ortom decorates Francis Atela youth ambassador

    Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday, in the State Executive Council meeting, decorated Nigerian Idol TV talent show runners up, Francis Atela as Youth Ambassador of the State.

    Governor Ortom, who performed the decoration at the New Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House Makurdi said Atela had showcased his thrilling performance to the world and deserved to be honoured.

    He stated that Benue youth remain the hope of the state and Nigeria, stressing that their mature behaviour during the End SARS Protests and demonstration of competence in many other areas of endeavours were worth celebrating.

    The Governor urged the youth to identify and develop their talents so as to add value to the state and country in general.

    Nigerian Idol winner, Kingdom, gets Bayelsa Govt. scholarship

    The winner of Season Six, of the recently concluded ‘Nigerian Idol’, Kingdom Kroseide, has gained educational scholarship from the Bayelsa Government.

    Gov. Douye Diri made the disclosure on Friday, when he received Kingdom and his team at the Government House, Yenagoa.

    Our correspondent recalls that before his emergence as the winner, he was a 200-level student at the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), in Ogbia Local Government Area, of Bayelsa.

    Diri said that the government would henceforth bear the responsibility of the 24-year-old talented singer’s education at the FUO, where he is a student and up to a master’s degree level if he so desired.

    Diri advised youths of the state to put in their best in whatever they were doing to be successful in life.

    The governor said: “In appreciation of the honour you have brought to the state, I hereby announce that you are on the scholarship of the Bayelsa State Government.

    “As you finish your first degree and if you so desire to proceed for a Masters degree, the scholarship would also cover your programme.

    “You are also appointed as an ambassador of the youth of Bayelsa State.

    “Let me use this opportunity to call on youths in the State to see Mr Kingdom Kroseide as a role model; as one who, out of hard work and the grace of God has brought honour to the state.

    “I am sure that putting yourselves in legitimate careers, you would bring honour, not only to yourselves but also to your state and country,” he said.

    While appreciating Kingdom for the honour done to the state, Diri advised him to strike a balance between his academics and his career.

    He said that with proper education and the grace of God, he would excel in his chosen career even outside the shores of Nigeria.

    He also advised Kingdom to continue to use his music to glorify God to move to greater heights.

    The governor noted that Kingdom’s success story was that of all Nigerians.

    He thanked the Nigerian Idol judges, the Nigerian Military School Old Boys Association and Nigerians for their different roles that led to the Bayelsa-born contestant emerging as winner.

    He also urged the relevant ministries and agencies to put modalities in place to establish a music school that would harness the musical talents that abound in the state.

    Earlier, Kingdom Kroseide, attributed his success to the grace of God and hard work.

    He thanked the state government, people of Bayelsa and Nigerians for their support that enabled him to win the contest.

    In separate remarks, representative of the Amananaowei of Angalabiri Federated Community, Chief Peres Peretu, and Kingdom’s manager, Felix Kroseide, thanked the state government and everyone that supported and voted for him to win.

    Peretu specifically appreciated Diri’s leadership style of uniting and galvanising the support of the people to enable them to achieve great feats.

    After a three years hiatus, music reality tv format, Nigerian Idol, will return for season six in Nigeria in 2021.

    For its return, MultiChoice Nigeria is taking over the reins of production as it has begun calling for entry submissions.

    Multichoice’s Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, recently announced that the company is bringing back the popular music reality show.

    Speaking on this, the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe said, “Nigeria is at the heart of music excellence and we are excited to announce that Nigerian Idol is officially back, starting with the Online Auditions! For us at MultiChoice, it has always been about talent development and giving our subscribers superior content that they can relate to and engage with. Idols is one show with a track record of producing the most popular music idols around the world and we are happy to bring Season 6 of Nigerian Idol to your screens.”

    Online auditions for the new season began on November 29, 2020.


    Since it made its debut in Nigeria, the Nigerian Idol has been a platform for talent discovery and expression.

    The Idol franchise has over the years produced some of the biggest Nigerian singers such as Timi Dakolo, Mercy Chinwo, and Omawumi.
