    NSCDC Arrests Five For Destroying Bridges in FCT

    Five suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for vandalising bridges in the Federal Capital Territory.

    A statement signed by the corps spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Monday, January 9, revealed that the suspects were arrested following credible information and surveillance mounted by the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Crack Squad from the NSCDC National Headquarters with the support of other stakeholders.

    Five inches galvanised pipes (5 mm), angle irons and a hand saw which was used in carrying out the destruction were recovered from the suspects. Most of the suspects were artisans whose activities are domiciled around the crime scene which is located close to the headquarters of Federal Mortgage Bank, Central Business District, Abuja.

    They’ve been identified as Abdullahi Bello, 18, Suleja LGA, Niger State, Julius David Madaki, 18, Sanga LGA, Kaduna State, Gambo Clement, 18, Sanga LGA, Kaduna State, Sadiq Abdullahi, 24, Billiri LGA, Gombe State and Abdulaziz Aliyu 25, Sanga LGA Kaduna State.

    A discreet investigation into the matter has commenced and would be followed by diligent prosecution of the suspects.

    Yuletide: FCT NSCDC deploys 4000 Personnels to ensure Security, hitch free festival period in Abuja

    The FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Dr. Peter Maigari, said that the has deployed 4000 personnel to ensure the festive period is hitch free and for protection of lives and property of residents.

    Maigari explained that the officers were deployed to cover strategic areas like places of Worship, Recreational Facilities, Markets, shopping Malls, Parks, Gardens, and suspected flash points, to beef up security and protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructures, guiding them against unwanted activities of criminal elements, especially this festive period.

    According to Commandant, the 4000 deployed are personnel from the Rapid Response team, Special Squad, Female Squad, Counterterrorism Unit, Armed Squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive team( CBRNE) and the Intelligence Unit.

    He charged them to be extra vigilant and to discharge their statutory responsibility with all diligence.

    Furthermore, the FCT Command PRO, ASC I Okomanyi Comfort, stated that the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi and the FCT Minister Mallam Mohamed Bello has given him a marching order to arrest of violators of the law, vandals of Manholes and other critical National Assets.

    ” We will spare no effort in carrying out the order, there will be no slackness in safeguarding lives and properties in the territory” the Commandant affirmed; pledging his attentive and persistent effort for the continuous raids and arrest of criminal elements while guaranteeing the safety of lives and properties in the territory.”

    Commandant Maigari, assured the certainty of peace and safety, disclosed that the second phase of the G7 operation has commenced in earnest to protect the FCT, and it’s bordering states comprising Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, Nassarawa and Kaduna state.

    He reiterated that the security operation is activated simultaneously in these places and with other sister agencies to take measures to secure and prevent miscreants from entering into the FCT.

    Maigari urged residents to be security conscious, to support the security personnel with useful information and to report any suspicious movement or activities of individuals, groups, or individuals to the nearest security post.

    Safe School Initiative: NSCDC Unveils 100 Female Squad In Benue

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) in Benue State on Wednesday launched 100 Female Strike Force (FSF) to beef up the federal government’s Safe School Initiative (SSI).

    Our correspondent reports that the command also graduated 350 specially trained officers on weapon handling, internal security and counter terrorism/insurgency to ensure peace in the state.

    The state commandant of NSCDC, Dr Phillip Okoh, in his address during the Passing Out Parade of the 450 personnel, noted that with the fresh crop of the officers and men, the command would become more formidable in handling various insecurity challenges in the state.

    Okoh added that the essence of the training was to reposition the NSCDC to deliver optimally in its function of maintaining law and order, the protection of critical national assets and infrastructures, equipping its special agro rangers’ force in tackling the menace of herders-farmers conflicts as well as stop cattle rustling among other things. 

    Meanwhile, the representative of the NSCDC Commandant General, Nuraine Adekunle, who is in charge of manpower development at the headquarters, Abuja, enjoined the graduates to ensure discipline in proper handling of the weapons.

    How Unknown Gunmen Kidnapped Wife of NSCDC Spymaster in Nasarawa

    The wife of the Head of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’SSIS), Mrs Victoria Apollos Dandaura, has been confirmed Kidnapped.

    The incident happened at his residence in Gidi-Gidi, around Cattle market, Lafia, Nasarawa State on Wednesday, 2nd November, 2022 at about 7pm in the evening.

    The unknown gunmen stormed the residence of Deputy Commandant Appolos Dandaura and took control of the environment by shooting sporadically in the air and thereafter whisked the wife away at gun point.

    His younger brother, a personnel of the Corps serving in Nasarawa State Command, ASC1 Ezekiel Dandaura Samu sustained gunshot injuries in the cause of the attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital facility.

    She was Kidnapped inside her living room and taken away without any traces for now.

    Fuel Scarcity: NSCDC Warns Against Diverting, Hoarding Petrol

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has warned against diversion and hoarding of petroleum products.

    Jigawa NSCDC state commandant, CC. Musa A Malla, issued the warning on Tuesday at the decoration of 66 newly promoted officers held at the command’s headquarters in Dutse.

    He said the state command is making efforts to check the diversion and hoarding of premium motor spirit, PMS, across the state and the country at large.

    “Our men are all over and are putting eyes on the activities of filling stations to end lingering fuel scarcity in the state,” he said.

    Malla said the command will not fold its hands and allow marketers and filling stations to causing unnecessary hardship on citizens.

    He however urged those promoted to the new rank to take it as another challenge to increase their productivity.

    “To whom much is given much is also expected, you need to work harder to reciprocate the gesture” CC malla said.

    We’ll Severely Punish Those Involved In Oil Bunkering – NSCDC

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to deal decisively with any operatives found culpable in oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.

    Commandant-General Ahmed Audi gave the assurance in Abuja. He said NSCDC was investigating reports of collusion between some personnel and oil thieves in the region.

    He said that the NSCDC had upgraded its standard operating procedure and code of conduct, providing adequate mechanisms of handling disciplinary cases.

    “We have approved that we will carry out discrete intelligence and investigation on the role of our personnel that are allegedly involved in oil theft.

    “I would like to assure Nigerians that as soon as we are through with the investigations, anybody that is found culpable will be severely sanctioned.

    “To also add to that, what we did recently was to disband and reorganise the Anti-Vandalism Unit with the view to injecting fresh blood.

    “So, what we did was that anybody who has served in the Niger Delta region for more than six months to one year is leaving that place and we will now bring new people.

    “Let me also reiterate that as soon as we conclude investigations, we will try to make it public to Nigerians.

    “Anybody no matter how highly placed, no matter his level or rank that is involved in colluding or conniving or in some form of compromise with oil thieves would be severely sanctioned,” Mr Audi added.

    NSCDC Uncovers Illegal Mining site in Lagos

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Lagos uncovered an illegal mining site on Thursday.

    The Commandant, Eweka Okoro, led the agency’s personnel to the location in the Ijede axis of Ikorodu.

    It was discovered that the miners were involved in illegally mining soil from large hectares of land, where telecommunication masts and power lines are planted.

    The operatives also found equipment, including three caterpillars, suspected to be used by the miners for their activities.

    Okoro warned those engaging in illegality that could jeopardize public health and critical public assets to desist.

    “The Command will not rest on its oars to ensure that illegal mining sites are shut and protect pipelines, telecommunications infrastructure and other national assets,” he said.

    NSCDC CG Ahmed Audi had directed State Commandants to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) belonging to Federal, State, and Local Governments.

    NSCDC Dissolves Anti-Vandalism Squad Nationwide

    Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has dissolved the corps’ anti-vandalism units nationwide.

    Audi gave the dissolution order during a meeting with senior officers and all state commandants of the corps on Tuesday in Abuja.

    He said the action was sequel to insinuations and reports in the public domain that security operatives were likely involved in oil theft and related crimes.

    “There are also reports that our officers are doing their jobs, but not satisfactorily enough,” he said.

    The commandant-General said the squad would be reconstituted in due time for better service delivery.

    He noted that the issue of oil theft had been of great concern to the federal government and warned that the corps would not condone sabotage or compromise in the protection of oil installations.

    He also directed that all illegal roadblocks by the anti-vandalism squads be dismantled immediately.

    “We have gotten information that some roadblocks were not approved, so those are the ones that will be dismantled,” he said.

    A recent viral video had also shown some NSCDC personnel in act of extortion.

    Audi directed an investigative and disciplinary panel to look into the situation surrounding the report in the video and suggest disciplinary actions to be taken if any.

    NSCDC Nabs Suspected Oil Thief in A’Ibom

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested one suspect and impounded two vehicles conveying 1, 500 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil in Akwa Ibom.

    The Commandant of the corps in the state, Suleiman Marafa, said at a media briefing in Uyo yesterday.

    Marafa said the suspect, aged 36, was arrested by NSCDC operatives in Akwa Ibom on Aug. 19, along Ikot Abasi-Port Harcourt highway while bringing in the product from Ogoni creeks in Rivers.

    He explained that the second suspect abandoned his vehicle and fled on sighting operatives of the corps, adding that the two vehicles seized were registered AKD 940 EG and ART 994 AA.

    The commandant said that the suspects concealed the product in cellophane bags tucked inside the booths of their vehicle to beat security checks.

    Marafa assured that the NSCDC would continue to pursue and apprehend criminals sabotaging the nation’s economy.

    “The Corps under my watch will not relent in hunting oil thieves and vandals who are sabotaging the Nigerian economy.

    “We have increased surveillance and patrol in identified flashpoints. I want to assure you that it’s not going to be business as usual for criminals and enemies of the state.

    “The suspect will be arraigned in court soonest, where he will answer for his crime. I want to appeal to our youths to desist from crime,” Marafa said.

    NSCDC Arrests Two Bandits in Sokoto

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, has arrested two bandits terrorizing Silame, Binji, Gudu, Tureta and Dange/Shuni Local Government Areas of the state.

    Addressing newsmen at the command headquarters at the Federal Secretariat, Sokoto Friday, the state commandant, Muhammad Dada, while parading the bandits, said the two bandits — Alhaji Koire and Alhaji Buba — have about 300 men in their camp.

    Muhammad further disclosed that the duo and their men have been terrorizing communities in Silame, Binji, Gudu, Tureta and Dange/Shuni Local Government Areas of the state.

    He explained that the duo also operated in Niger Republic and Nigeria, adding that Koire had escaped from prison custody several times using diabolical means.

    Muhammad stated that when the NSCDC state command received a tip-off about their whereabouts in Silame Local Government, he personally led his men and after searching for them for two days in the bush, the NSCDC personnel were able to apprehend the bandits.

    He said after their arrests, their gangs attempted to induce the NSCDC personnel with N10 million to secure their release.

    One of the arrested bandits, Buba, while speaking to journalists, said he was involved in a kidnapping at Dabegi in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of the state where they collected N4 million as ransom.

    He also confessed that he participated in another abduction at Kudula in Gudu Local Government, which fetched his group N1 million as ransom.

    He stated that they have a leader in Niger Republic called Danbuzu who supplied them AK-47 riffles and other ammunition, adding that Danbuzu also provided other logistics for them during their operations.
