    We’ll Severely Punish Those Involved In Oil Bunkering – NSCDC

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to deal decisively with any operatives found culpable in oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.

    Commandant-General Ahmed Audi gave the assurance in Abuja. He said NSCDC was investigating reports of collusion between some personnel and oil thieves in the region.

    He said that the NSCDC had upgraded its standard operating procedure and code of conduct, providing adequate mechanisms of handling disciplinary cases.

    “We have approved that we will carry out discrete intelligence and investigation on the role of our personnel that are allegedly involved in oil theft.

    “I would like to assure Nigerians that as soon as we are through with the investigations, anybody that is found culpable will be severely sanctioned.

    “To also add to that, what we did recently was to disband and reorganise the Anti-Vandalism Unit with the view to injecting fresh blood.

    “So, what we did was that anybody who has served in the Niger Delta region for more than six months to one year is leaving that place and we will now bring new people.

    “Let me also reiterate that as soon as we conclude investigations, we will try to make it public to Nigerians.

    “Anybody no matter how highly placed, no matter his level or rank that is involved in colluding or conniving or in some form of compromise with oil thieves would be severely sanctioned,” Mr Audi added.

    NSCDC Uncovers Illegal Mining site in Lagos

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Lagos uncovered an illegal mining site on Thursday.

    The Commandant, Eweka Okoro, led the agency’s personnel to the location in the Ijede axis of Ikorodu.

    It was discovered that the miners were involved in illegally mining soil from large hectares of land, where telecommunication masts and power lines are planted.

    The operatives also found equipment, including three caterpillars, suspected to be used by the miners for their activities.

    Okoro warned those engaging in illegality that could jeopardize public health and critical public assets to desist.

    “The Command will not rest on its oars to ensure that illegal mining sites are shut and protect pipelines, telecommunications infrastructure and other national assets,” he said.

    NSCDC CG Ahmed Audi had directed State Commandants to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) belonging to Federal, State, and Local Governments.

    NSCDC Dissolves Anti-Vandalism Squad Nationwide

    Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has dissolved the corps’ anti-vandalism units nationwide.

    Audi gave the dissolution order during a meeting with senior officers and all state commandants of the corps on Tuesday in Abuja.

    He said the action was sequel to insinuations and reports in the public domain that security operatives were likely involved in oil theft and related crimes.

    “There are also reports that our officers are doing their jobs, but not satisfactorily enough,” he said.

    The commandant-General said the squad would be reconstituted in due time for better service delivery.

    He noted that the issue of oil theft had been of great concern to the federal government and warned that the corps would not condone sabotage or compromise in the protection of oil installations.

    He also directed that all illegal roadblocks by the anti-vandalism squads be dismantled immediately.

    “We have gotten information that some roadblocks were not approved, so those are the ones that will be dismantled,” he said.

    A recent viral video had also shown some NSCDC personnel in act of extortion.

    Audi directed an investigative and disciplinary panel to look into the situation surrounding the report in the video and suggest disciplinary actions to be taken if any.

    NSCDC Nabs Suspected Oil Thief in A’Ibom

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested one suspect and impounded two vehicles conveying 1, 500 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil in Akwa Ibom.

    The Commandant of the corps in the state, Suleiman Marafa, said at a media briefing in Uyo yesterday.

    Marafa said the suspect, aged 36, was arrested by NSCDC operatives in Akwa Ibom on Aug. 19, along Ikot Abasi-Port Harcourt highway while bringing in the product from Ogoni creeks in Rivers.

    He explained that the second suspect abandoned his vehicle and fled on sighting operatives of the corps, adding that the two vehicles seized were registered AKD 940 EG and ART 994 AA.

    The commandant said that the suspects concealed the product in cellophane bags tucked inside the booths of their vehicle to beat security checks.

    Marafa assured that the NSCDC would continue to pursue and apprehend criminals sabotaging the nation’s economy.

    “The Corps under my watch will not relent in hunting oil thieves and vandals who are sabotaging the Nigerian economy.

    “We have increased surveillance and patrol in identified flashpoints. I want to assure you that it’s not going to be business as usual for criminals and enemies of the state.

    “The suspect will be arraigned in court soonest, where he will answer for his crime. I want to appeal to our youths to desist from crime,” Marafa said.

    NSCDC Arrests Two Bandits in Sokoto

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, has arrested two bandits terrorizing Silame, Binji, Gudu, Tureta and Dange/Shuni Local Government Areas of the state.

    Addressing newsmen at the command headquarters at the Federal Secretariat, Sokoto Friday, the state commandant, Muhammad Dada, while parading the bandits, said the two bandits — Alhaji Koire and Alhaji Buba — have about 300 men in their camp.

    Muhammad further disclosed that the duo and their men have been terrorizing communities in Silame, Binji, Gudu, Tureta and Dange/Shuni Local Government Areas of the state.

    He explained that the duo also operated in Niger Republic and Nigeria, adding that Koire had escaped from prison custody several times using diabolical means.

    Muhammad stated that when the NSCDC state command received a tip-off about their whereabouts in Silame Local Government, he personally led his men and after searching for them for two days in the bush, the NSCDC personnel were able to apprehend the bandits.

    He said after their arrests, their gangs attempted to induce the NSCDC personnel with N10 million to secure their release.

    One of the arrested bandits, Buba, while speaking to journalists, said he was involved in a kidnapping at Dabegi in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of the state where they collected N4 million as ransom.

    He also confessed that he participated in another abduction at Kudula in Gudu Local Government, which fetched his group N1 million as ransom.

    He stated that they have a leader in Niger Republic called Danbuzu who supplied them AK-47 riffles and other ammunition, adding that Danbuzu also provided other logistics for them during their operations.

    The Commandant of the FCT Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Peter Maigari has ordered the deployment of 4000 personnel from Command Headquarters, Area Commands and District offices of the FCT to strategic areas like places of worship, recreational facilities, markets, shopping malls, parks, gardens, densely populated areas and suspected flash points to conduct raids, beef up security and to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure to prevent unscrupulous activities by criminals during the period of Eid el Kabir celebration.

    In the press statement signed by the FCT Command PRO, ASC II Okomanyi Comfort the Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari made available to newsmen in Abuja stated that “protection of life and property is the priority of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps therefore the Corps will stop at nothing to ensure its protection by implement security measures to avert disruptions and criminal activities. ”

    Amongst the 4000 are personnel from the response team, special squad, female squad, counter terrorism unit, armed squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive( CBRNE) and officers from the intelligence unit.

    Commandant Peter charged them to be extra vigilant and to discharge their statutory responsibility with all diligence.

    He urged the general public to support the security personnel with adequate, apt and useful information by reporting any suspicious movement or activities of individuals, groups or persons to the nearest security post and charged everyone to be security conscious as security is everyone’s business.

    He also assured the residents of adequate security, as NSCDC, alongside other security agencies will work round the clock to ensure safety of life and property.

    Commandant Peter Maigari felicitated will all Muslim faithful and wished everyone a peaceful public holidays ahead.

    Abuja Security: NSCDC recruits 510 personnel into FCT Command

    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recruited and commissioned five hundred and ten rank and file officers into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Corps, to boost security in the Territory.

    This is to tackle the prevailing security challenges residents in FCT face its adjourning states and other parts of the country.

    The Commander General,CG, Ahmed Abubakar Audi at a colourful Passing Out Parade (POP) of the new personnel, held at the FCT Command premises in Wuse Zone 5 said that the newly enlisted operatives have been diligently and vigorously drilled in line with the core mandate of the Corps.

    Audi who was represented by Deputy Commandant General, in charge of critical national Assets and infrastructure, Claudius Danladi Yakubu, said that the injection of the new personnel indicates that the NSCDC is taking the battle and responsibility a step ahead of the prevailing security situation in the Territory.

    He said,”If we claim that these bad elements are not in the FCT, then we are only deceiving ourselves, therefore the fact that we have these 500 plus operatives passing out today; though, it might not be enough, but we are going to be working in synergy with other security agencies to improve the security situation in the FCT.”

    “The Commandant General expects them to always be disciplined, carry out their responsibility without fear or favour, and be humane in all that they do, that’s why we are civil defenders.”

    “As civil defenders, we protect the rights and privileges of the citizens.”

    Commandant of the FCT Command, Peter Maigari thanked to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Interior, Raulf Aregbesola and the Board that supervises the affairs of the NSCDC, Fire, Immigration and Correctional service as well the CG of the Corps, for beefing up the FCT Command.

    Maigari, disclosed that more operatives are still coming to join the Corps, because FCT must be secured, adding that the NSCDC have enough tools (modern technology inclusive) that will help combat crimes.

    He said, “There is no gainsaying, everybody is aware of the situation that we have found ourselves in the nation; and our Commandant General has been making bold statement that the situation is not a normal conflict known to us, hence the need for us to have more hands, in order to tackle the insecurity.”

    “FCT is bounded with so many states, and some of these miscreants are coming from all over, and they needed to be checkmated.”

    I want to let the FCT residents know that they should sleep with their two eyes closed as the FCT Command, in collaboration with other sister agencies will work assiduously to make sure that the FCT is safe for all citizens and visitors alike, Maigari said.

    The Commandant stated that the Nigerian Security and Civil Deence Corps Tsamiya outpost in Tureta Local government has successfully arrested Bello Abdullahi,Bello Abubakar,,Abdullàhi Oro and Lawali Sulaiman.

    He added that the suspects were arrested in connection with kidnapping of four persons in Tureta on April 22nd in which N5m was collected as ransom.

    Alhaji Dada further said the Command has also recorded success in the arrest of suspects kidnapping one person at Dange Shuni local government area on March 16th in which N900,000 was collected as ransom

    NSCDC apprehends 69 Oil thieves in A’Ibom

    At least 69 oil thieves and vandals have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the first quarter of this year in Akwa Ibom.

    The State Commandant, Mr Abidemi Majekodunmi, who disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen in Uyo yesterday said this was in furtherance of the Corps mandate to protect government critical infrastructure and arrest economic saboteurs.

    The Command he said have also been proactive in intelligence gathering across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, to nib crimes related to their mandate in the bud.

    “In the first quarter of the year, we placed significant emphasis on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

    “Here in Akwa Ibom, we do know that the network of pipelines are much and definitely we have criminal and non state actors tampering with the pipelines for economic profiteering and sabotage.

    “What we have done is to ensure that we deploy intelligence, capitals and assets to make sure that we do activities that serve as deterrent to these non state actors, that were always eager to steal petroleum products.

    “When we get quality intelligence, we plan and execute operations to make arrests. We also have, currently, about seven boats. In that particular case, we have 69 suspects, illegal dealers in petroleum products.

    “They have been charged to court and of course, we have made investigations and done a profiling, so those cases are currently in Court, for the Court to do the appropriate adjudication,” Majekodunmi said.

    Majekodunmi said that the suspects had been charged to court for prosecution, adding that the law would take it course while those found guilty would face the wrath of the law.

    The state commandant called on communities with critical government infrastructure to see the infrastructure as their own and protect them against vandalism.

    He said the Civil Defence would continue to promote crisis management and be proactive in dealing with conflict situations in the state through their peace and conflict resolution machinery.

    The commandant added that NSCDC over the years had deployed technology in fighting crimes so that they reach all criminal hideouts at ease in the state.

    Majekodunmi called on the media to ensure objectivity in their reportage to guarantee peace and national security in the state and the country.

    The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Oyo State Command, Michael Adaralewa urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religion to be law abiding during the Easter celebration and beyond.

    He said this in a Statement on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,DSC Okuneye Oyindamola in Ibadan; it also said the State Command has deployed 2,000 personnel to different places in the state to ensure a hitch -free Easter Celebration; he then assured the citizens, that the Command is ready to collaborate with other agency to secure lives and properties of people in Oyo state during and after the Easter celebration.

    Adaralewa also enjoined the Christian faithful to reminisce on the lesson of forgiveness, suffering, passion and love to Christ during the lent and also pray to God for the success of governments in discharging her duties.

    He added that, the deployment will not only safe guard individuals, but that it will serve as a deterrent to elements that are criminally minded that might want to perpetrate criminality,he listed the components of the deployment: Armed squad,Agro rangers, Intelligence Department,Counter terrorism Units among others.
