    NSUK seeks collaboration with SPS alumni for infrastructural development

    The Management of  Nasarawa State University (NSUK) has sought for collaboration with the alumni of the defunct School of Preliminary Study Keffi (SPS) basic ’85 towards achieving academic excellence and infrastructural development in the institution.
    Prof. Suleiman Muhammed, Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University said this when SPS Basic ’85 alumni paid him a courtesy call  Monday, in Keffi.
    He said the University is seeking for support in the areas of funding, research and collaboration to execute projects that will enhance its academic performance.
    “We want to see how you can support the University in the area of funding as well as facilitating a wide range of collaboration and cooperation by leveraging on your connection both national and international to attract funding to the University,” he said.
    Muhammed who described NSUK as successor of SPS Keffi, said the University had inherited both the assets and liabilities of the school when it took over the school, hence agreed to adopt the University as their Alma mater.
    The SPS Basic ’85 alumni also paid homage to the Emir of  Keffi, HRH. Dr Chindo Yamusa to seek royal blessing and informed him of their reunion.
    While speaking, Mr Meshach Jatau, the leader of the delegation said the purpose of the visit was to intimidate the Keffi Emirate Council and the University of the reunion of the SPS Keffi Basic’85  to give back to her Alma mater and the society in general.
    Responding, the Emir of Keffi, HRH.Dr Chindo Yamusa, who is also NSUK Chancellor said Keffi Emirate Council welcomed the reunion of the SPS  Basic ’85, noting that the Emirate would  support them in their quest to make the University among the World best.
    reports also indicated that the SPS Keffi Basic ’85 held her maiden meeting cum public lecture entitled ” Alumni Association as a veritable tool for networking” delivered by Prof. Abdullahi Shehu.
    Daybreak news  also reports that the alumni appointed caretaker officials namely; Nehemiah Gagara, Chairman, Salman Dashe, Secretary, Meshach Jatau, Abubakar Sadiq and Mary Ishaya members to pilot her affairs pending the election of executives.

    NSUK TO HONOUR AL-MAKURA WITH A DOCTORATE DEGREE

    A delegation of the Governing Council, Senate and Management of Nasarawa State University Keffi, led by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Adamu Baikie and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to Senator Umaru Al-Makura in his Jabi office, Abuja. 

    The delegation said they paid the courtesy call on the Senator to intimate and present to him the decision of the Council on his nomination for conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degree, to be presented during the 6th combined convocation ceremony slated for 28th March, 2020.

     The  Vice Chancellor said  the Council and Management of the University considered Senator Al-Makura worthy of this recognition because of his massive transformation in the education sector when he held sway as the State Governor between 2011 to 2019. And that as Senator of the FRN, Al-Makura is leaving no stone unturned to bring about the desired legislative turn around in the Solid Minerals sector.

    Prof. Suleiman also  stressed that Senator Al-Makura has a very unique political engineering by defeating the incumbent in 2011, conducted the most free and fair LG elections in Nigeria, the only CPC Governor in Nigeria, and has ensured the political stability in Nasarawa state by bringing a worthy successor.

    According to Bala, “Senator Al-Makura as visitor to the university, his contribution remains unparalleled by providing basic infrastructures, and appointing reputable personalities as members of the University Governing Council. The VC also pointed out that Senator Al-Makura met a rural state and transformed it into a city”.

    On his part, the Chairman of the Council, Professor Adamu Baikie, after eulogising Senator Al-Makura for his outstanding contributions, had, on behalf of the Council and Management of the university presented the letter of nomination for the award to Senator Al-Makura.

    In his acceptance speech, Senator Al-Makura thanked the university authority for deeming him worthy of the nomination, saying that NSUK symbolised national unity and epitomised a collective desire to build a strong nation. “I am happy that the institution realises its important position in the educational salvation of our youth and the rejuvenation of our nation” Senator Al-makura added.

    He then congratulated the Governing Council, Senate, Management and staff of the university for recording progress in achieving the objective for which it was set up.

    As part of the visit, the Vice Chancellor officially unveiled the university 2020 calendar to Senator Al-Makura, a document that Al-Makura is conspicuously captured with some of his laudable projects in the university.
