    Ondo Assembly Passes Anti-Grazing Bill, Two Others

    The Ondo State House of Assembly on Friday passed a bill to regulate security, rearing and grazing of livestock and establishment of ranches.

    The Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Honourable Taofeek Oladele observed that the bill when passed into law will prevent the destruction of farm crops in the state.

    Oladele noted that the law will address clashes between herders and farmers, enhance the growth of livestock farming, prevent control and manage the spread of diseases and as well encourage modern techniques of animal husbandry.

    After a thorough debate on the bill, it was considered necessary for approval and the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Bamidele Oleyeloogun ruled in favour of the bill after a voice vote.

    The lawmakers also passed two other bills into law: the judicial autonomy bill as well as the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) bill.

    Ondo Assembly approves appointment of thirteen Special Advisers for Gov Akeredolu

    The Ondo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of thirteen Special Advisers for Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his second term in office.

    This followed a letter of request to that effect written by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Olugbenga Ale.

    Members of the House at a parliamentary meeting observed that the request was in line with the constitutional rights of the governor.

    They added that it would accelerate the machinery of government with a view to engendering prompt delivery of democracy dividends to the people

    Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu was sworn in for a second term in office on Wednesday the 24th of February 2021.

  • BREAKING: Thugs invade Ondo Assembly

    Some persons suspected to be thugs have invaded the Ondo state house of assembly.

    The thugs, it was gathered converged on the assembly to prevent suspended lawmakers from gaining access to the complex.

    The lawmakers’ suspension was recently quashed by an Akure high court.

    BREAKING: Ondo House of Assembly suspends another lawmaker

    The Ondo State House of Assembly has suspended the lawmaker representing Ondo West Constituency 1, Mr Tomide Akinribido, over alleged gross misconduct.

    The suspension of the lawmaker came barely one month after three lawmakers were suspended for a similar offence

    Akinribido, who is a lawmaker of the Zenith Labour Party, was suspended for using vulgar words in the hallowed chamber during plenary.

    BREAKING: Ondo Assembly suspends Deputy Speaker, alongside lawmaker

    The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Iroju Ogundeji has been suspended.

    Ogundeji was suspended alongside another member of the House, Hon. Adewale Williams.

    The two lawmakers were suspended by the leadership of the House on Wednesday during plenary for unruly behaviour.

    The affected lawmakers were among the nine lawmakers who did not sign the impeachment notice against the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi.

    BREAKING: Ondo Assembly begin impeachment process of Agboola Ajayi.

    Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have commenced the process of removing the deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi.

    The members of the Assembly are currently deliberating in the Assembly on the allegation of gross misconduct against Ajayi.

    On the premises of the Assembly, scores of armed policemen and the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are present to maintain the law and order.
