Deborah: Prophet Muhammad didn’t kill anyone for insulting him – Sheikh Gumi

Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has joined the conversation of death for blasphemy, saying that Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (SAW), did not at anytime kill anyone despite the fact that he was insulted severally.

Gumi said this while conducting a religious teaching class in his Kaduna Juma’at mosque, according to reports.

In a video clip obtained and translated by PRNigeria, Gumi said the prophet’s refusal to avenge the insults non-Muslims were raining on him while he was alive, was because he did not want to be regarded or tagged a killer.

His statement was a reaction to the recent lynching of Deborah Samuel, a female Christian student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, over alleged blasphemy.

He said: “Anyone who kills a non-Muslim who they have agreed to live peacefully with, will not smell the fragrance of Paradise for 40 years.

“If we think by killing Deborah, people who are not of the same faith with us will stop insulting our prophet, then we are in delusion,” he concluded.

The state Commissioner for Information, Isah Bajini Galadanci while addressing newsmen at government house Council Chamber said the current critical issue going in the state is about blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad PBUH by Isma’il Sani Isah who posted in social media the inciting words.

Mandated by Governor Tambuwal, the Commissioner said “the government of the state is taken action against an unscrupulous citizen for inciting words against Prophet Muhammad.

“On behalf of the government and people of Sokoto state i condemn in strongest terms the unholy behaviour”.

The Governor therefore warn that henceforth the state government would not condone such acts against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) or any other prophet of God or His scriptures.

The commissioner added that already the government, in collaboration with the security agencies and other relevant authorities, are taking necessary steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken against the offender, stating that already the suspect has been apprehended and investigations are ongoing, consequent upon which he will be brought before a competent court of law to face justice accordingly.

According to him, Gov. Tambuwal has cautioned against the politicization of the issue, saying that it is time for all citizens of the state to unite on matters such as this.

The governor commended the coalition of youths who inspite of partisan divides came together and approached relevant authorities, rather than taking the law into their hands.

Tambuwal, therefore urged people in the state to maintain peace and order as all necessary measures are on course to address the matter.
