    Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji made the call today 28/06/2022 when he paid an unscheduled visit to Badon Barade Model Primary School in Wamakko LGEA.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu said the visit was in continuation of his visit to basic schools across the state to see things for himself rather than staying in office expecting all is well.

    Information Officer of the Board, Abbas Tukur Sanyinna further said Kajiji expressed happiness with the turn out of both teachers and pupils as well as the commitment of teachers of the school to their work as they were met attending pupils in each and every class.

    The Subeb Chairman however expressed dissatisfaction with the inability of teachers of the sch teaching their pupils on basic social and health related studies as well as Current Affairs issues.

    He expressed worry that in most of the classes he entered,non of the pupils answered his simple questions about their immediate environment such as names local governments in the state,states and capitals, names of months in Islam among others.

    Alhaji Altine to this end challenged them to brace up in that regard for the attainment of the set objective.

    He also used the medium to warned basic teachers against indecent dressing while in schools being them role models.

    The Oyo State Government has directed all public primary schools in the State to immediately implement the teaching of History as an independent subject starting from this term (3rd term) of the 2021/2022 academic session.

    The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran disclosed this today, while monitoring schools’ resumption in Ibadan.

    Dr. Adeniran who applauded the massive turnout of pupils in public primary schools, said reintroduction of History is in line with the new education policy of the State Government.

    He applauded the leadership of Universal Basic Education Commission, Abuja for the technical support received, as well as the supply of textbooks.

    Dr. Adeniran said over Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and fifty (4,950) history textbooks are being distributed to public primary schools state-wide, adding that this will give pupils a proper understanding of the Nation’s history.

    He hinted that the curriculum would enable pupils to appreciate history as an instrument of national integration, adding that it would allow students to know the history of the country.

    Adeniran, an Education expert, who dazzled OYOSUBEB staff members and teachers by teaching pupils, said he was optimistic that the curriculum would equip the younger generations with the knowledge of the past.

    The OYOSUBEB Boss said that the importance of history to nation building, patriotism and human development could not be overemphasized.

    Meanwhile, he equally appreciated the Heads of Public Primary schools across the State who have commenced academic activities immediately, saying idleness of teachers or pupils would not be tolerated.

    Adeniran, who continued the monitoring exercise alongside other members of the board expressed satisfaction with the situation they met at some schools visited, compared to the turnout of pupils last week.

    The Chairman, however, called on other parents, whose children are yet to return to schools to kindly ensure they do so without hesitation, as academic activities have commenced.

    The Executive Chairman and his team monitored schools across Local Governments in Ibadan and Ibadan less city.

    Public Schools To Operate Only Four Working Days – Kaduna Govt

    As schools resume for the 2021/2022 academic session, the Kaduna State Government has directed all public schools in the state to operate only four working days a week, between Monday to Thursday instead of the usual five working days.

    The directive was given by the state Commissioner for Education, Halima Lawal, in a notice for school resumption for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session.

    As a result, the commissioner explained that the 2021/2022 academic calendar would be adjusted to ensure coverage of the curriculum for the academic session.

    She also informed all parents, guardians, and the public to note that the state government has approved January 10 as the resumption date for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session.

    This, according to Lawal, is even as the state government advised parents, guardians and students to comply with all public health guidelines by adopting all protective measures against COVID-19.

    The directive to public schools comes five weeks after the state government migrated to a four-day working week for all civil servants.

    Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, had explained that the decision was designed to help boost productivity, improve work-life balance, and enable workers to have more time for their families, for rest, and for agriculture.

    BREAKING: Lagos Govt directs all public, private schools to resume Jan 18

    The Lagos State Government has ordered all public and private schools below the tertiary level in the state to reopen for the second term 2020/21 academic session from Monday, January 18, 2021.

    Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, announced this on Monday.

    She said this was in line with the Federal Government’s directive coupled with the second wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

    Lagos State Govt. Public, private schools to reopen on Monday

    Private and public schools in Lagos State can reopen from Monday, November 2, 2020.

    The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, made this known in a statement on Thursday.

    The statement was titled, ‘LASG approves reopening of schools from Monday’.

    It read in part, “The Lagos State Government has approved the re-opening of schools for all classes in public and private schools across the State beginning from Monday, 2nd of November, 2020 while boarders in public schools are to resume on Sunday, 1st of the same month.”

    Kogi restates commitment to improving public schools

    The Kogi Government, on Wednesday, restated its commitment to improve public schools and revamp the education sector for optimal performance in the state.

    The Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, gave the assurance during unscheduled visits to the Government Secondary School, Itobe and the Local Government Science Secondary School, Ajaokuta.

    Jones said that the enormity of challenges facing the sector necessitated his visit to the schools, to get first-hand information before settling down with relevant stakeholders to proffer solutions.

    He assured that the Gov. Yahaya Bello-led administration remained committed to revamping the sector.

    He said the government and teachers must be on the same page in order meaningfully engage the students in robust academic activities and sports competition among others.

    The commissioner recalled that, historically, Kogi was reputed to be the academic hub of Northern Nigeria.

    “The feat is still achievable with the right attitude and discipline on the part of teachers and students,’’ he said.

    Jones decried the devastating effect of the rainstorm on school buildings across the state and called for stakeholders’ intervention to ameliorate the situation.

    He urged the school heads to collaborate with Parents Teachers Association (PTA) and School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) to properly engage with old students associations of schools and prominent members of their communities for support.

    He added that “the government could not do it alone.’’

    Jones said the laudable gains made by the governor in the security sector would not be allowed to relapse.

    He said that provision of quality education for the youths was key to eradicating poverty, violence and social vices in the society.

    The commissioner advised the students to be very serious with their academic activities as their future was in their hands.

    He urged them to justify the huge investment on them by their parents and guardians.

    Jones also advised the school management to maintain environmental hygiene for a healthy school environment.

    In their separate remarks, the Principals of both schools, Mr Michael Ocheni and Mr Ocheje Sunday, commended the governor for appointing the commissioner, whom they described as “action man”.

    They noted that the visit was the first of its kind since the establishment of their schools.

    The principals assured the commissioner of their full cooperation and to put all his observations and directives into effective use. (NAN)
