    Gov. Ishaku Lauded President Buhari for deploying Ultra Modern fire fighting truck to Taraba

    The Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has pledged to support the Federal Fire Service to be effective in combating fire disaster.

    The Governor stated this when Minister of Interior Rauf Aragbeshola paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday in his office at Government House Jalingo.

    Ishaku said his administration has overhaul the system of fire fighting by ensuring training, discipline and safety of the fire fighters.

    Governor Ishaku further promised to provide land for the Nigerian Correctional Service and appealed to the Minister of Interior to include construction of a befitting office and other correctional facility for the State.

    The Governor appreciated President Mohammadu Buhari for deploying a Ultra Modern fire fighting truck to the State and the Minister of Interior Professor Rauf Aragbesola for positioning the Fire Service on the front burner.

    Commenting, the Minister of Interior Professor Rauf Aragbesola said the Fire Service only in the Second quarter of this year received 638 distressed calls that took the lives of 37 persons with destruction of property worth three point seven billion naira.

    Aragbesola, disclosed that in the said intervention of the Federal Fire Service 166 lives were saved, eighty two persons injured with fifteen point one trillion property saved.

    The Minister called on Governor Darius Ishaku to establish a robust fire service to save lives and property.

    He warned against the molestation of Men of the Fire Service in the discharge of their responsibility saying the Federal Government cannot longer condoned such act and would go hard on any one that misbehaved.

    Aragbesola, called on the Citizens to prevent fire disaster beginning from the designs of buildings.

    On his part, the number one fire fighter, the Controller of the Nigeria Federal Fire Service Liman Ibrahim thanked the Federal Government for deploying a Modern Fire fighting truck to strengthen safety and protection of the people.

    The number one fire fighter requested for utility vehicles, training of Staff and inclusion of the fire Service into the State Security Council.

    High point of the Visit was the inauguration of the Ultra Modern fire fighting truck by Governor Darius Ishaku.

    The Minister later visited the new Taraba Marshall Office a security outfit established by Governor Darius Ishaku before departing the State.

    DPR, in Taraba State sealed 3 Petrol stations for Operating without License & Various Offenses

    Operation Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Jalingo field office, Bature, said the filling stations were shut down for offences ranging from operating without license and redundancy and inactivity.

    Briefing newsmen after a surveillance exercise of all petrol stations across the state, Bature said the DPR will no longer condone any infractions by marketers.

    He condemned the attitudes of some oil and gas marketers, who indulge in diverting and smuggling petroleum products to the neighbouring Republic of Cameroon.

    He urged perpetrators to desist and source alternative means of livelihood as the department has put in place measures to checkmate such ills.

    The Controller who asked the marketers to adhere strictly to the rules of the business said the department has resolved to ensure total compliance with the stipulated regulations and guidelines by all the industry players,

    Bature also stressed the importance of the e-station registration, saying a total of one hundred and ten stations have registered on the e-station portal in the state.

    Miyetti Allah Hands Over Kidnappers To Police In Taraba

    The leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has handed over 11 suspected kidnappers and gun runners to the police.

    The suspects were handed over to Taraba police commissioner, Mr Abimbola Sokoya, at Maraban kunini, on Sunday.

    They were presented during the formal inauguration of a 16-man committee set up to tackle criminal activities, especially kidnapping.

    The chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle breeders Association in the state, Sahabi Tukur, said this was done in response to pledge made before the Emir of Muri Alhaji Abbas Tafida, and state Commissioner of police that they will expose criminal elements among them.

    He said the committee members drawn from all the Fulani clans in the state would work along with police and other security agents in all the 16 local government areas of the state to fish out kidnappers and other criminals.

    The police commissioner commended the Fulani for their resolve to address kidnapping and other crimes being perpetrated by bad eggs among them.

    He also called for collaboration effort between Adamawa, Benue and Taraba states in tackling kidnapping and other criminals activities.

    He assured the Fulani of his command’s support to the command support in their efforts to weed out criminals elements among them.

    Similarly, six kidnappers who repented have sworn with the Holy Qur’an that they would not engage in kidnapping, Cattle rustling or any other form of criminals activities anymore.

    Gov. Ishaku constructing 700 Km roads in Taraba

    Taraba State government has ordered the contractor handling the 230 Klm Bali-Serti- Gembu road to resume work immediately, an official has said.

    Mr Irimiya Hammanjulde, Commissioner for Works in the state stated this on while speaking to newsmen in Jalingo.

    Hammanjulde said that the directive became necessary considering the enormous importance of the road to the people of the state as well as the construction of the gygantic hydro electrical power project located on the Mambilla Plateau.

    The commissioner said that though the job which was awarded since 2013 by former Gov. Danbaba Suntai had been suspended by the contractor who sought for a review of the project.

    He explained that the contractor demanded for review due to increase in the cost of construction materials occasioned by the effect of Covid-19 pandemic.

    He said that Gov. Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba who insisted that his administration would continue with projects he inherited that could impact positively on the lives of the people, ordered the contractor to resume work immediately.

    According to Hammanjulde, the process of the review of the contract is in progress.

    He said that the administration of Ishaku was constructing over 700 Klm of roads in the state.

    He said that the figure included both Federal roads constructed by the state as well as state roads under construction.

    He also said that while some of the roads had been completed, others were still undergoing construction in deferent parts of the state.

    He mentioned some of the roads as the 82 Klm Mararaba Baisa Abong road, 30 Klm Wukari Tsukundi road, 30 Klm Mararaba Pantisawa- Pantisawa road, 230 Klm Bali-Serti-Gembu road.

    Others he said included the 18 Klm NYSC-Pantinapo dual carriage way, 16 Klm Kona phase two dual carriage way and many other township roads that had been completed and commissioned during the first term of the administration.

    He gave clarification that the NYSC-Pantinapo dual carriage way cost N34 Billion due to the construction of a Fly Over, Nukkai bridge as well as various pedestrian bridges.

    He said that the work done was fast and qualitative inline with the original project design.

    He expressed satisfaction and optimism that the work would not be reviewed further due to the speed at which the contractor was executing the project.

    He also said that the contractor handling the Mararaba Pantisawa road project had reviewed the work from it’s initial N6 Billion to N7 Billion due to the effect of Covid-19 on construction materials.

    Hammanjulde said that road construction had covered all the three senatorial districts in the state, adding that the selected roads were considered based on their enormous economic importance to those communities and the state in general.

    He appealed to the people of the state to support the administration to complete all these ongoing projects before the expiration of the administration.

    He also eulogized the people of the state to live in peace with one another so as to enjoy giant stride achievements recorded by Gov Ishaku.

    Corps Commander Selina William, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Taraba command has warmed personnel against extorting money from motorists.

    William issued the warning on Wednesday while speaking to newsmen in Jalingo.

    She described the organization as Noble and reputation in all its dealings.

    Selina said that the command had deployed it’s sectorial intelligent to fish out corrupt marshal, assuring that any culprit would be dismissed from the service.

    She said that two teams had been dismissed in the past for bribery related offences, adding that discipline and integrity were the Hallmark of the organization.

    The sector commander said that the ban on markets along high ways was sacrosanct to the safety of drivers and citizens.

    She insisted that holding markets along highways posed serious danger to both commuters and the people.

    According to her, government can not allocate markets along highways.

    Selina said that he tenure as the sector commander has reduced accidents drastically.

    She expressed the determination of the Corp to save lives rather than rescue.

    She noted that the Marshalls who indulged into bribery were taking blood money.

    She however, advised motorists to desist from giving bribe to Marshalls, urging them to report to the command any marshal who unduly demand for bribe.

    2023: APC stands the better chances of taking over Taraba

    The former Acting Governor of Taraba state Garba Umar UTC, on Thursday said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) stood a better chance of taking over power in the state come 2023.

    Garba UTC, made the declaration while speaking to Daybreak news in Jalingo.

    He said that the party had more responsible members at present, adding that the shenanigan process which characterised selection of candidate for the party n the past would not come to play in the subsequent process.

    Garba UTC, also pointed out that the mass decamping of politicians from other political parties into the APC in recent time was a pointer that the party would triumph in it’s quest to wrestle power from the PDP in the state.

    The former acting governor however, called on the APC stalwarts to develop cohesion among themselves before and after all processes leading to the nominating and selection of candidates.

    He therefore, called on members of the party to support whichever candidate that would emerge for the party in next election.

    According to him, I am ready to support whoever that energies as the candidate for the party in next election.

    UTC, declared that his quest to be the next governor of the state was to continue with those good projects he initiated while serving as the acting governor in the state.

    He said that the people of the state were in dire need of a leader that would focus on human capital development and security.

    He said that most areas of such had been neglected leaving the people of the state into abject poverty.

    ” It is now evident that our party, the APC stands a better chance of taking over power in the state in the coming election.

    “As you can see that the party has more responsible and organised people now and I want to assure you that those things that have happened in the past will not happen again.

    ” We are growing from strength to strength as more people are decamping into our party day by day.

    “We need people because it’s the people you have in a political party that gives the party the strength to be able to excel.

    For me, I am the race to continue with those projects I started that have positive impact on the people.

    ” I learnt that most, if not all the project’s I started have being abandoned.

    “Today, it’s on records that I am the last governor to pay gratuities, bursary allowances to students, boosting of security agencies in the state with patrol vehicles among many other things.

    ” I am advising our members to support whoever candidate that would emerge as candidate for the party.

    “I am ready to support whoever that will emerge because we are all members of the party and in whatever we do, the interest of our party first.

    “The state needs APC to rescue bad administration in the state,” Umar said.

    Garba Umar, served as a deputy governor to late Danbaba Suntai.

    He also held the position of acting governor when Suntai had an accident and was taken for treatment in Germany.

    A 67-year-old man identified as jibrin Nyashu was allegedly slaughtered by unidentified gun men using deadly weapons at his residence in garin Jatau area of Ardokola local government, a few killomiter away from the state capital Jalingo. Taraba state,

    The incidents which took place in the late hours of Friday when the residents wake up with the ugly news of the elderly and peaceful man as they all describe the deceased.

    According to an eye witness who pleaded anonyminity said, that the incident took place at Jibir Nyashu’s resident at Aunguwan Dong in Garin Jatau village around 3am when the dogs were barking so seriously but it never come to their minds that there was negativity at the nose.

    In the morning around after 7am a woman who identified to be Mr. Jibir Nyashu’s sister came to check on him since he just returned from their home town (Sagwe Dekko) and found him dead inside his own room on Friday morning which happens to be 14th August, 2020.

    According to the sister, Jibir Nyashu have divorced his wife Vigane Jibir years ago and now stays with the children and the children are between the age of 7 and 15, ariving the residence she noticed something unusual as she was shouting Jibir, Jibir and the senior daughter responded that daddy may have gone to farm but she wasn’t convinced because the door was open and she decided to check, gettinginto the room she found her brother Jibir Nyashu on bed but the way he lay was so unusual, she shouted his name and their was no response, she touched him but he didn’t move and she couldn’t noticed it because the room was dark, as he didn’t move her heart beat and she decided to lift up the door cotton doing so she found Jibir Nyashu slaughtered and blood was everywhere as she began to screamed and crying round the village.

    As at the time of filling this report, no statement from the police headquarter yet, after a series of phone calls and un-replied text messages sent to his mobile phone the state PPRO.
