    Bale and Ramsey in Wales squad for upcoming games

    Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have been named in Wales’ 29-man squad for their upcoming games against the United States, the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

    Bale returns to the squad after missing October’s international games because of a knee injury, while Ramsey also returns after injury had previously ruled him out of the 1-0 win over Bulgaria on October 14.

    Wales face the United States in a friendly at the Liberty Stadium on November 12 before crucial Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland on November 15 and Finland on November 18, both at the Cardiff City Stadium.

    Wales will be without manager Ryan Giggs for all three matches, after he was was arrested on suspicion of assault.

    The Welsh FA released a statement on Tuesday confirming Giggs would not be involved in the international camp following the allegations, which he denies.

    His assistant coach, former Watford and Sheffield United defender Robert Page, will instead take charge of the team for the next three games and will be supported by Arsenal coach Albert Stuivenberg.

    Wales, who are top of their Nations League group after three wins and a draw, are without first-choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and his deputy Adam Davies through injury.

    Dunfermline’s Owain Fon Williams, who was part of the squad which reached the semi-final of Euro 2016 under Chris Coleman, has been recalled along with Newport’s Tom King.

    Defenders Tom Lockyer and James Lawrence are also recalled and Newport midfielder Josh Sheehan wins a first senior call-up after being preferred to Cardiff’s Will Vaulks.

    Tom Lawrence features in a Wales squad for the first time this year after summer surgery.

    The 46-year-old manager was arrested and later bailed over an alleged row with “on-off girlfriend” Kate Greville at his homeDaybreak reported.
    Wales play the United States in a friendly on November 12 before Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

    “The Football Association of Wales and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp,” said an FAW statement.

    “Our agreed immediate priority is preparing the team for the upcoming international matches.

    “Robert Page, with Ryan’s support, will take charge for the next three matches against the USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland supported by Albert Stuivenberg.”
    A statement released on behalf of Giggs on Tuesday morning said: “Mr Giggs denies all allegations of assault made against him.

    “He is co-operating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigations.”

    Wales were due to announce their squad on Tuesday morning for the three games, but those plans were shelved on Monday night as news broke of Giggs’ arrest.

    “The Cymru squad for these upcoming matches will be announced on Thursday 5th November,” the FAW said.

    “The FAW will not be making any further comment at this current time.”

    Two police cars were parked outside Giggs’ house in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on Sunday evening following reports of a disturbance involving 36-year-old PR worker Ms Greville.

    In a statement provided to The Sun, Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.

    “A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

    Police added the arrested man was later released on bail pending further inquiries, the newspaper said.

    Wales postpone news conference over alleged incident involving manager

    The Football Association of Wales has postponed a press conference on Tuesday following allegations against manager Ryan Giggs.

    It comes after police were called to an address in Greater Manchester on Sunday following reports of a “disturbance”.

    “A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment,” read a police statement.

    “A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.

    “He has since been bailed pending further enquiries. Enquiries are ongoing.”

    The Welsh FA has postponed a press conference Giggs was due to attend on Tuesday to announce the Wales squad for their upcoming games against the United States, Republic of Ireland and Finland.

    “The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving the men’s national team manager Ryan Giggs,” read a statement.

    “The FAW will be making no further comment at this current time.”

    Former Manchester United winger Giggs was appointed Wales manager in 2018 as permanent successor to Chris Coleman.

    Wales next face the United States in a friendly at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on November 12 ahead of two crucial games in the Nations League.

    Group leaders Wales host the Republic of Ireland on November 15, before facing Finland on November 18 – with both games to be held at the Cardiff City Stadium.
