Taraba LG Boss alleges threat to his life

By Danzumi Ishaku

Mr Danladi Suntai, the chairman of Bali local government area of Taraba state on Monday alleged that there are threats to his life over the Kungana chieftaincy tussle.

Suntai who spoke to our correspondent in Jalingo alleged that unknown person had sent him text messages threatening to kill him for his role in the chieftaincy tussle in one of the villages in his local government area.

Part of the text message made available to our correspondent read “the death of your elder brothers (former Taraba state governor Danbaba Suntai and Babangida is not enough lesson to you. Continue to fight Islam. The issue of Kungana chieftaincy, we heard that you are the generator of religious sentiments. We promise you, prepare because you must be killed and PDP will lose Bali and all of Central Zone. We have the majority.”

Suntai said he has nothing to do with the alleged chieftaincy tussle as the said chief was the choice of the Executive Governor of Taraba State who has the right to appoint District Head. I was only instructed by the Governor to confirm if he is from the ruling house and recommend him for appointment.

The Council Chairman, said the threat was based on misinformation and unfounded hatred.

Our correspondent revealed that, the threat is coming at the time the state is battling with the issues of election and kidnapping.
