They have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years and are now active in more than 70 countries driving changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels.
Speaking during the brief ceremony,the Canadian High Commissioner in Nigeria, Jamie Christoff said is a five year project that seeks to improve the realisation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights for adolescent girls and women including vulnerable populations in Bauchi and Sokoto states.
The High Commissioner who was represented by the Country Director, Mr. usie Charles said tge project is funded by the Global Affairs Canada and also aimed to break down the inter-governmental cycle of poverty by empowering adolescent girls with knowledge and social capital, reducing Gender Based Violence, advancing women and girls’ healt,rights and equality, supporting women’s economic opportunities and increasing household incomes.
Acknowledging the contributions of the agency, the state governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu commended them and assured of the state government collaboration on any activity beneficial to the electorates and generality of Sokoto people.
The governor who was represented by his deputy,Alhaji Idris Danchadi also announced that improving health sector is one of his nine points agenda and therefore can contribute fully and a=so participate in the sector for the development of my people.
The 7 beneficial local governments are Sokoto South, Sokoto North, Wamakko, Kware, Tambuwal, Binji and Gwadabawa.
