There May be no Elections in 2023 if Insecurity Persists -Sen. Orker Jev

The Senator representing Benue North West in the National Assembly, Sen. Orker Jev has said there may be no elections in 2023 if the current security challenges persist.

Speaking while playing host to members of the Print and Electronic Media Association of Nigeria, PEMOAN, at his Makurdi resident on Wednesday, the Parliamentarian maintained that the government and security operatives were overwhelmed.

Senator Jev noted however that as Representatives of the people, they won’t relent in their efforts to ensure that there is peace, adding that development can’t take place in an atmosphere of chaos.

” If the current security situation in the country persist, you can’t even talk about 2023 general elections”, stressing that, as far as the issues of insecurity are concerned, they will continue to talk about them.

He expressed worry that most of the Communities accros the nation were currently experiencing hardship due to attacks by bandits, herdsmen Militia.

The Lawmaker commended the Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom for responding promptly to issues of insecurity in the country.

Sen. Jev who Advocated Creation of State Police, explained that they would help fight criminality in the land. ” I voted against State Police but I have come to realize that there is need for it”.
