THINGS ARE LOOKING BETTER AT HOME – IKPEAZU TELLS ABIANS IN EGYPT

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured Nigerians resident in Cairo, Egypt that things are looking better in Abia State and will get better going forward.

The Governor stated this during his interactive session with The Abia State National Association Cairo, Egypt as part of his working visit to Egypt as a Keynote Speaker at the Intra-African Trade Fair currently ongoing in Cairo.

Governor Ikpeazu used the opportunity to update the delegation of the new developments in Abia State especially the Enyimba Economic City and other key projects of his administration.

He noted that the era of listing roads built and other infrastructure provided as accomplishments was over as those were basic requirements people should expect of any office holder and that he was more focused on opening up Abia State for rapid industrialisation as the surest way to accelerate the economy of the state.

According to the Governor, “what we have been doing with the Made In Aba Campaign and the Enyimba Economic City which are receiving global attention today are landmark interventions which will outlive us and set Abia State on an irrevocable path of economic self-reliance and I invite you all to be our ambassadors in the diaspora and spread the message. The world can no longer ignore Abia State and you should all hold your heads high as your state is now synonymous with global respect”.

In his speech, the President of the Abia State National Association of Cairo, Egypt, Chief Ifeanyi Umakalu thanked the Governor for the audience and informed him that the Association was in constant touch with their kin back home and they were aware of all his efforts.

The Association made a request for the Governor to approve a parcel of land for them anywhere in the state so they can develop properties from the proceeds of their businesses in Egypt and assured the Governor of their unflinching support for him in his re-election bid.

In a vote of thanks to the Association on behalf of the Governor, renowned businessman and politician, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba thanked the Association for their enthusiastic support for the Governor and informed them that the Governor had united all disparate key political elements in the state and that everyone that mattered in Abia State was firmly behind the Governor.

High point of the interactive session was the presentation of symbolic gifts to the Governor by Members of the Association.

The Governor will on Thursday, December 13, 2018 join Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to declare the Nigerian Day at the Fair open while he will also deliver a Keynote Speech in the afternoon and Chair the Nigerian Night in the evening.

The Intra-African Trade Fair is a gathering of key Trade and Investment Decision Makers from Africa and around the world and has several Presidents of countries in attendance.

Abia State is represented at the Fair by 4 leather goods producers sponsored by Nigerians in Cairo and the Bank of Industry.
