Thousands gather in Iwo, Osun as Sisi Quadri is finally laid to rest amidst tears

The late Nollywood actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri, has been laid to rest, bringing deep sorrow to his fans and admirers.

Sisi Quadri, a revered Yoruba actor, was finally interred in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Videos circulating online captured the solemn atmosphere at his burial ceremony, with crowds witnessing the actor’s final journey. Among the mourners were youths, residents of Iwo, theatre practitioners, and other dignitaries.

Reports revealed that mourners gathered at his father’s residence in the Agboola area of Iwo early in the morning, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his body from the mortuary. The actor’s remains arrived around 11 am in an ambulance, plunging the crowd into deep mourning as they bid farewell to the beloved actor.

Sisi Quadri’s untimely passing was announced by his colleague Tunde Olayusuf on Instagram, sparking widespread shock and grief within the entertainment industry. Reports indicated that the actor succumbed to kidney-related complications after experiencing persistent hiccups, which led to his sudden hospitalization in Iwo, Osun State.

A viral video circulating online depicted Sisi Quadri expressing concerns about his health before his demise, prompting calls for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Colleagues and friends of the late actor, including Muyiwa Ademola, Folorunsho Adeola, Bukola Adeeyo, and others, took to social media to mourn his passing and pay their respects.

Veteran actor Kunle Afolayan shared a poignant photo of himself with Sisi Quadri on the set of Anikulapo, expressing disbelief and sorrow over the loss. He prayed for the departed actor to find eternal rest.

As the entertainment community grapples with the loss, actress Wumi Toriola urged colleagues to show respect for the deceased and his grieving family during this difficult time. Similarly, Iyabo Ojo, though not acquainted with Sisi Quadri personally, expressed admiration for his craft and advocated for the establishment of a health support account to assist actors and crew members in need of medical assistance, emphasizing the fragility of life.
