President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna, according to Vice President Kashim Shettima. Discussions are also underway for the creation of a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The announcement was made during Vice President Shettima’s condolence visit to the Kukah family following the passing of His Highness Yohanna Sidi Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom, and a relative of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
Shettima, speaking in Kamuru, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, stated, “With Senator Katung and the House of Representatives member, we reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna.”
Commitment to Southern Kaduna Development
At the residence of the late traditional ruler, the Vice President highlighted the administration’s focus on addressing the developmental and security needs of Southern Kaduna. He pointed to the recent appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as evidence of the government’s commitment to ensuring the region’s safety and growth.
The proposed projects are part of broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to foster development and improve access to education and healthcare in underserved regions.
