President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a meeting with Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, both members of the House of Representatives, at the State House in Abuja. The specific details of the meeting have not yet been disclosed, but it is believed to be related to the challenges Abbas and Kalu have faced in their bids for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
According to The PUNCH, Abbas and Kalu received the endorsement of the governing All Progressive Congress for the respective offices they are vying for. The 10th National Assembly members are scheduled to be inaugurated on June 13, after which they will elect new leaders, including the Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
This meeting on Thursday follows a prior engagement the President had with Senate President Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
