Tinubu Warns Terrorists: Surrender or Face Military Action

President Bola Tinubu has warned terrorists and insurgents to surrender or face a renewed military onslaught. This warning came during the opening of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Inaugural Annual International Lecture on Thursday in Abuja. The President emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the Sahel region.

The lecture, titled “Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024): Dissecting Nigeria’s Challenges – Genesis, Impacts and Options,” aimed to address the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria. The management of NAN organized this event to tackle pressing issues. Experts, policymakers, and security officials gathered to discuss potential solutions.

Tinubu’s call for action arises amid rising insecurity in Nigeria. It has severely affected the lives of many citizens. He stated that the government understands these challenges. It is committed to providing necessary resources to the military and security forces. “Our resolve is strong; we will not back down in the fight against terrorism,” he declared. He also urged citizens to support the government’s efforts by sharing information about terrorist activities in their communities.

The President underscored the need for regional cooperation. He called on neighboring countries to unite against this common threat. A coordinated approach is vital for restoring peace and security in the region.

Tinubu appointed the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to represent him at the event. Ribadu echoed the President’s sentiments. He stressed the need for immediate and decisive action against insurgents.
