Tragic Killing Sparks Manhunt for Assailants: Kaduna Police on High Alert

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Wednesday, Grace Chalya Silas, a dedicated member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was brutally stabbed to death during her morning jog in the Barnawa area of Kaduna South Local Government Area. The Kaduna State Police Command, confirming the tragic event, has launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators.

The victim, who was serving her one-year mandatory national service in the state, fell victim to yet-to-be-identified assailants while exercising. The news of her untimely demise has left her friends and fellow students at the University of Jos in deep mourning. Comfort Elisha, one of her coursemates, expressed the collective shock and grief on Facebook, lamenting the loss and praying for justice.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, described the incident as “tragic.” According to Hassan, the miscreants, believed to be phone snatchers, attacked Chalya Silas during her jog. Police operatives swiftly responded to the scene, finding the young woman in a pool of blood. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries.

Following an emergency meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police, CP Musa Yusuf Garba, the top officials of the Kaduna State Police Command are actively involved in the investigation. CP Garba has instructed the Barnawa Divisional Police Officer and law enforcement personnel to diligently pursue the assailants, ensuring they face justice for their heinous crime. The NYSC in the state is also collaborating closely with the police in this investigation.

As the search intensifies, the entire community mourns the loss of a promising young life, and residents demand swift action to bring the culprits to justice.
