Two Women Arraigned in Osogbo over Trafficking Osun Lady to Libya

Two Osogbo residents, Akinniyi Temitope (41) and Abiodun Oluwakemi (31), faced charges of human trafficking at the Federal High Court in Osogbo. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) brought the charges against them, alleging that they conspired to traffic a 20-year-old Osogbo resident, Kehinde Opeyemi, to Libya for exploitative labor. The defendants, accused of committing the offenses in November 2023, appeared before the court and pleaded not guilty. The charges are in violation of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015, with the defendants granted bail at N2 million each. The case is scheduled for a hearing on February 12, 2024.
