…Isah Pantami Delivers Forgiveness Sermon, Calls for Unity in North
By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna
Despite initial rejection of his condolence messages, Governor Uba Sani, alongside Senator Shehu Sani and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, personally visited the Abuja residence of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai to pay respects over the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummah.
The visit on Sunday drew heavy crowds of mourners and sympathizers. During the interaction, Governor Sani and El-Rufai exchanged a condolence handshake, observed by other political figures with anticipation. Hajiya Ummah, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, was transported back to Nigeria by the El-Rufai family, causing a brief delay in the burial arrangements.
At the Jannazah, Professor Isah Pantami delivered a Nasiha (sermon) urging Northern leaders to forgive one another, let go of grudges, and unite for the greater good. He referenced a Hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned that Allah (SWT) does not forgive those who die holding grudges over worldly matters.
Pantami said, “Forgiving one another is ultimately for our own benefit. No matter what we achieve in life, it is temporary. We must forgive, let go of differences, and live peacefully.”
He also commended the presence of Uba Sani, Shehu Sani, and Ribadu, describing their attendance as a demonstration of maturity and responsibility.
“May God forgive the shortcomings of El-Rufai’s mother and unite them in Al-Jannatul Al-Firdausi, Aameen,” Pantami concluded.
