By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

History has been made at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, as the institution successfully conducted its first-ever kidney transplant.

The groundbreaking procedure was performed by a team of highly skilled medical professionals, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to advancing medical services in Nigeria.

Sources within UDUTH confirmed that both the donor and recipient are in stable condition and responding well to post-operative care.

According to Sokoto Voice, this achievement positions UDUTH among the leading medical institutions in the country capable of conducting specialized organ transplants, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad.

The hospital management expressed gratitude to the medical team, patients, and all stakeholders who contributed to this historic success. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding access to advanced medical treatments in the region.

This landmark achievement is expected to pave the way for more organ transplants in the future, bringing renewed hope to patients suffering from kidney disease across Nigeria.
