Ugandan Businessman Ssaalongo Nsikonenne Habib Ssezzigu Marries Seven Wives in Spectacular Ceremony

By   Milcah  Tanimu

Ssaalongo Nsikonenne Habib Ssezzigu made headlines as he wed seven wives simultaneously in a grand ceremony held in Bugereka village, Mukono district, on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Notably, two of the brides are biological sisters.

The festivities began at 8 am with the brides receiving stylish makeovers at local salons before boarding specialized Super Custom vans, each adorned with a personalized plate bearing the bride’s name.

Following the exchange of vows, the newlyweds, accompanied by boda boda cyclists, paraded through Kalagi, Kasana, and Nakifuma towns before arriving home at 6 pm to cheers from onlookers who lined the streets to witness the extraordinary event.

The wedding commenced with a lively concert, and reactions ranged from disbelief to amazement among the spectators, some of whom had never witnessed such a spectacle.

The brides, namely Mariam, Madinah, Aisha, Zainabu, Fatuma, Rashida, and Musanyusa (Habib’s first wife of seven years), received brand new cars as gifts from the groom. At the reception, the brides’ seats were thoughtfully labeled with their names.

During his reception speech, Nsikonenne praised his wives for their loyalty, emphasizing the absence of jealousy among them. He expressed his desire to create a harmonious, large, and happy family.

Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of adding more wives in the future, citing his youth and willingness to embrace polygamy. Nsikonenne’s father, Hajj Abdul Ssemakula, reflected on the family’s longstanding tradition of polygamy, tracing it back to his grandfather, who had six wives separated by curtains in one house. His father continued the tradition with five wives, and he currently has four wives living together in one household.

It is worth noting that Habib’s multiple weddings on the same day are believed to have set a new record in Uganda for the most wives married simultaneously.
