The UN special representative of Secretary General for West Africa and Sahel, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas,alongside the EU delegation has pledged it’s unalloyed support to officers and men of OPERATION Lafiya Dole and the MULTINATIONAL joint task force,MNJTF,to Eleminate and stamp out remnants of criminal elements of bokoharam not only in the northest Nigeria but the entire lake chad basin region.
The UN special representative,who led a 3- man UN/EU delegation,stated this on during a solidarity visit to the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi,and other sector commanders at the Maimalari Containment,Maiduguri.
He said the fight should not be left to Nigeria alone but a collaborative efforts of all the troops of the Lake Chad Basin countries of Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Nigeria.
“It is in this context, we have the supportive efforts of Chad Basin countries and the fight is to combat, defeat and eliminate terrorism.” He said.
He used the occasion to condemn the international terrorism network accusing it of perpetrating the lingering insurgency in the Northeast and the lake Chad basin countries,LCBC.
Responding,the Theatre Commander,Maj-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi hinted that, the terrorists may be operating in Borno or any other state in the Northeast, but lamented that it is criminal for Boko Haram to destroy people’s lives and property.
His words: “It is the time that requires total support of the entire international community, because terrorism is the manifestation of
international terrorism; where resources must be pooled to fight it”

said,inter alia,
“The only thing Boko Haram could do is that; it will crumble.
“We are resolved to bring and end to this nonsense,just as the Federal Government and the international community are doing everything within it’s power to crush this insurgency to a quick end.”
He pledged to the UN/ EU delegation that the Armed Forces will not fail in its statutory responsibility of protecting the territorial intergrity of the country.
