“Unity remains the only way to sustaining Nigeria” – Group

Amgbare Ekaunkumo,Yenagoa

A social political group under the aegis of Good Governance and Democratic Agenda, has said to keep Nigeria together is non-negotiable, and the only way to achieving it remains unity.

The group also noted that for Nigeria as a country to achieve peace there must be understanding amongst its citizens.

The group made their position known in a statement sent to Daybreak news on Monday in Yenagoa.

Speaking through its South South coordinator, Hon. Ebitimi Jones,
the group stated that the idea to make the Governor of Ekiti State, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, guest speaker at the 9th/10th edition of The ZIK MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES at the University of Nigeria, NSUKKA, Anambra State, speaks volume of unity.

The statement reads “We the members of Good Governance and Democratic Agenda, with hundreds members cut across the creeks of the Niger Delta, wholeheartedly thank the host Governor and Governors of the South East for opting for a detribalised and very patriotic Nigerian, Dr. Fayemi Kayode, who is also a symbol peace and unity as can be attested to, in his state (Ekiti) since he became Governor.

We also hail the South Easterners, particularly the people of Anambra State, for their Peaceful dispositions, before, during and after the epoch making event of the ZIK MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES with His Excellency, Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State as the guest speaker.

The Good Governance And Democratic Agenda most respectfully thanked Dr. Kayode John Fayemi, for squeezing time out of his very tight schedule to honour the people and the nation.

We therefore opined that the choice of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as guest speaker of the 9th/10th Edition Of ZIK MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES is a clear indication that unity in our nation can eradicate the monstrous and cancerous spirit of tribalism.

We however debunk the perceptions in some quarters that Nigeria is a mere geographical expression.

We thereby laud the Nigeria Governor’s Forum under the Chairmanship of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for their display of Love, peace, unity and understanding all this years, despite the curable epileptic economic challenges.
