Vacate Your Positions if You Have Deficiency, Gov Alia To Govt Officials

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has warned that government officials with deficiency in character in the course of delivering services to the people should vacate their positions forth with.

The Governor who gave this warning when the Resident Auditors of Local Government Councils presented reports from their Councils to him at the Government House Makurdi, contended that government under his watch will no longer be business as usual but service to the people.

Governor Alia charged the Auditors to keep their records open for scrutiny, adding that any one holding government position should consider it as a privilege to serve, averring that government is not a private business of any person.

The Governor expressed disgust over the recent reports he received from Local Government Chairmen regarding developments at the various local councils.

To this end, Governor Alia is to visit local government areas across the state in continuation of his familiarization visit to various sectors of government and to ascertain level of development.

He maintained that the visit would enable him appreciate sacrifices of workers and fully understand the state and position of councils including payment of salaries among others. Ends
