We want to remain Farmers and not Armed robbers – Ondo Cocoa Farmers

This is one of the write up on the Placads of aggrieved Cocoa Farmers of Ofosu, Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo state.

The Cocoa Farmers protested against an alleged sale of their farm land to a Chinese company by the State Government; they barricaded the lagos/benin expressway carrying Placads with different demands; some read ” have mercy on us”, “Don’t take our Farms”, “Respect our right to livelihood” and so on.

A Community leader, Kazeem Akinrimisi, Sasare of Ofosu, speaking with journalist said he has been farming for more than 20 years and that more than 25,000 Farmers registered by the state government have been paying their dues; so also other farmers lamented on the issue.

The Traditional ruler asked the farmers to be peaceful, promising that the palace will hold a meeting with the state government,in regards to that.

Although, calls have been put across to the Special Adviser to the governor on Agriculture and Agribusiness,Akin Olotu,went unanswered, likewise text messages.
