We Will Continue to Protect Lives and Property Despite Killing of Soldiers, Defense Minister Assures

Minister of Defense, General Bashir Magashi (rtd) has expressed displeasure over the killing of Soldiers in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State by bandits.

The Minister who made this disclosure in Makurdi during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom at the Government House Makurdi, contended that the Nigerian Armed Forces is saddened over the gruesome murder of the Military Officers.

General Magashi, however, noted that the sad incident would not discourage them from carrying out their constitutional duties of protecting lives and properties of Nigerians.

The Minister who expressed President Muhammadu Buhari’s disgust over the killings, added that any attempt to make Nigeria ungovernable will be resisted.

General Magashi averred that for the morale of Soldiers to be restored, perpetrators of the heinous act must be arrested and made to face the Law to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements.

According to the Minister, part of their mission in the state was to restore confidence in the Troops to enable them continue to discharge their legitimate duties.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in his response, sympathized with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Armed Forces over the killing of Military Officers.

Ortom acknowledged the enormous support and contributions of security agents, particularly the Military. He pledged his administration’s continued support to security operatives in the course of their duties.
