Wike, Jerry Eze, Elumelu, Otedola Among Top 100 Peace Icons in Africa

Several prominent Nigerians have been recognized in the prestigious roster of the ‘100 Most Distinguished Peace Icons in Africa,’ according to a report by Naija News.

The announcement was made by Kingsley Amafibe, the Project Director for the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa, in a statement released to the media on Wednesday.

Among the notable Nigerians featured in the list are Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings; Femi Otedola, Chairman of Geregu Power Company; and Innocent Idibia, the renowned Nigerian singer known as Tuface.

Additional Nigerians who have secured a place in this list are Boss Mustapha, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations; Mohammed Abdullahi; Imaan Ibrahim; Stephen Akintayo; and Farouk Khailann.

The list further includes Pastor Jerry Eze, Daniel Moses, Mohammed Dewji, Mesfin Tasew Bekele, Assistant IGP Aishatu Baju, Gabriel Aduda, Tein Jack-Rich, Tosin Eniolorunda, Oluwatosin Olatujoye, and Rita Dominic, a prominent figure in Nollywood.

Among the other honorees are Seyi Vodi, Salamatu Muktah Josephine Nwaeze, Ayo Animashaun, and Stevens Azaiki.

Amafibe emphasized that these peace icons represent a diverse group of Africans who come from various backgrounds, leveraging their skills, positions, and resources to foster and advance peace across the continent.

He expressed his optimism that their actions would continue to serve as an inspiration for individuals and organizations globally, motivating them to strive for a more harmonious and equitable world.

Amafibe remarked, “The compilation of the 100 most esteemed peace icons in Africa encompasses individuals from a spectrum of experiences and life paths, yet they all share an unwavering dedication to peace and non-violence.”

“These luminaries have demonstrated that the pursuit of peace is not an insurmountable feat, and each individual possesses the capacity to contribute to the construction of a superior world.”

“Through their guidance, advocacy, and humanitarian endeavors, they have kindled the spirit of millions across the globe to join their cause and collaborate towards a future characterized by justice and serenity.”

“As the past three decades have witnessed our global society teetering on the edge of conflicts, the pursuit of peace has heralded the emergence of some of the most exceptional individuals of our era.”
