Works Minister Umahi Commends Governor Nwifuru’s Inclusive Leadership, Advocates Continued Support for Federal Government

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

The Honorable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi (CON), has assured the South East region of significant progress in addressing security challenges in 2025, emphasizing the federal government’s commitment to the region under the Renewed Hope administration.

Senator Umahi made this statement during a yuletide visit by the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum to his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, on December 27, 2024.

Highlighting the democracy dividends enjoyed by the South East under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Umahi called for sustained support and solidarity for the federal government.

“We must always be grateful to God and to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Igbo people and the South East are on the right track. We have learned to talk less, understand that the centre belongs to all of us, and support the government at the centre,” he remarked.

The Minister commended Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (GGCEHF), for fostering peace and stability in the state. He emphasized the importance of fairness, equity, and justice, assuring that the governor’s “4+4 tenure” is sacrosanct and urging all stakeholders to support the administration’s efforts.

“I will continue to preach equity, fairness, and justice in Ebonyi State. We encourage our governor to remain fair and equitable. With God’s help, he will succeed,” Umahi stated.

Earlier, the President-General of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, Dr. Andrew Chibueze Elom, expressed the group’s gratitude to Senator Umahi for his pivotal role in ensuring that an Izzi son emerged as governor. He described the visit as an opportunity to share the joy of the season and appreciate the minister’s invaluable contributions.

“We are immensely grateful for the blessings, favor, and development you have brought to Izzi. Though we have little to offer, our words of gratitude and appreciation are boundless,” Elom said.

The event underscored the minister’s emphasis on unity, support for the federal government, and the promotion of peace and inclusivity within Ebonyi State and the South East region.
